A great place to relax 1/31/2006

I've been with Char for years and have seen her work in a few places but I believe she's finally found a home. I get unsettled in most high end salons. I don't like feeling intimidated just in order to get my hair cut. The first time I walked into Alchemy I just....relaxed. The atmosphere is so calm and peaceful. There is a good energy there. You can tell the people who work there are happy and happy hairdressers make for happy clients. It just feels good to be inside alchemy and add to that some of the best hair people in the Bay Area and you just can't go wrong. more

I have been going to Char for 2 years and absolutely love getting my cut and color from her. I look forward to my evening after work with her. She has a great talent with both my color and cut--and that is not easy to find! Thanks Char for the great hair and conversations! more

AND THEN CAME SHERRY... 1/23/2006

I'm a 44 year old male who has been going to Sherry at Achemy Hair Studio for over 10 years. It first started out with great haircuts. The last 5 years, due to ""the coming of gray,"" I've been getting cut and color. It was hard giving in to color, but harder dealing with the gray. The color looks awsome, everyone believes it's my true color. Why go anywhere else? I live in LA and Alchemy is in San Jose. I book appointments six weeks in advance, fly in, have my hair done and visit my family. It's a perfect set up for me. I can't give up Sherry who I trust 100 percent. I feel that it is hair therapy for me. more

Excellent Atmoshere and Value! 1/23/2006

At Alchemy, there is a warm inviting atmosphere which I have not found anywhere else. The shop is somewhat eclectic and curious; not even close to being stuffy or ancient like, where my Mom goes :-) Sherry has been doin' my hair for almost 3 years and I adore our visits and the time she spends with me. I am always provided with new ideas and colors even though I don't change my style hardly ever. Laughter prevails, as everyone is friendly and seems to enjoy their time. From the time I receive my appointment reminder call, to the time I open the door and say Hi, throughout my hour in the shop, I feel special and wanted. Snacks and something to drink is always offered and again I think to myself ""I love coming in here!"". Where else but a Spa would you get the same relaxing experience? more

Alchemy is the only hair studio for me and has been for years. Sher, the owner, not only knows how to run a customer-pleasing business, but is an excellent stylist and consultant. No one else can do color and style like Sher. The whole experience is wonderful: from the great music, decor, to the end result-a beautifully transformed hair design. Side benefits- great tasteful gifts such as custom purses, jewelry are in the Studio for customer convenience. I highly recommend Sher and Alchemy Hair Studio for anyone wanting to be styled and pampered like a star. Pros: Excellent stylists, Great ambience, Flexible more

Alchemy has been helping me stay in fashion for coming on FIVE years! Sher is a master at color, cut and always with an overall feel good vibe! Prior to Sher and Alchemy, I was well on my way to looking like a ""woman of certain age"" with the requisite bob cut. Alchemy the place to be 1/23/2006

What can I say other than this is the place to be. The moment you walk in the door you know this is where you want to be. The decor and atmosphere is hip and inviting, along with the friendly and well educated staff. About 6 years ago I walked in to the saloon a woman who rarely got her hair done, and now I am hooked and return every 6 weeks for some new and exciting cut and/or color - or just to maintain the fabulous look I had already received. To anyone looking for a new saloon this place is a MUST. You can never go wrong when in the hands of Alchemy!!!!!! Pros: talented, professional, unique Cons: none!!! more

What can I say other than this is the place to be. The moment you walk in the door you know this is where you want to be. There is something magical happening! 1/12/2006

Everybody wants to look good, but when you walk out of a salon truly feeling as good as you look you have every reason to keep going back. My wife and sisters always rave about how great the stylists are at Alchemy, and how great they feel when they leave the salon because the stylists are always happy and friendly. Though my wife and sisters are generally happy people, they are seemingly more cheerful after leaving the salon. I finally had my chance to see what the rave was about. And so it goes...even though Char basically gave me the same cut I usually get, people came out of the woodwork to tell me what a great haircut I had. The truth is those girls are doing something magical because life seems to have become livelier than ever. Char, Sherry and Jennifer I'll see you again in four weeks. Thanks! Ever been one of those people who leapfrog around to different doctors, dentists, or even hair salons, until you find the right fit? Once you do find it, you hold on to it, because you know its like catching lightning in a bottle. Well, I have found the right fit with Alchemy. The atmosphere is like none I have seen before, unique and inviting. I found Alchemy to have granted all my wishes; warm and friendly, a comfy waiting area with a big couch and cookies to fill my tummy as I wait, and the unbelievable luck with finding value and skill together. My appointment with Char was such a surprising delight. She listened, asked questions and with such a comfortable ease and skill executed my wishes. At last, I have found a place to call home. Pros: qualified skill, comfy atmosphere, good value more

definately worth a visit 12/24/2004

Alchemy has good interior design, it's comfortable yet professional. But to me, the skill of the stylist is more important than how the studio looks. Afterall I do want to look good. It's the stylists at Alchemy that set it apart from the other salons. They are totally professional. My stylist, Kathy, was able to do my hair exactly the way I asked her to. That's a sign of a pro to me because at other salons, I usually get what the stylist wants not what I ask for. I was very happy I visited Alchemy because I looked goood when I came out. I strongly recommend everyone to go give them a try. Especially Kathy because she's great to talk to as well as being a great stylist. more
