All around terrific 5/3/2010

New to the area. Had my family in town who can be tough to please when it comes to dining out. Heard that Anthony's had good brick oven pizza and thought I'd give it a try. The food was wonderfully fresh. Had a couple of the salads, the stuffed mushroom, and various different pizzas. Went on a Monday and was a bit worried that the service might suffer. However, it was outstanding. The staff was very attentive and friendly without overdoing it. My family left very pleased with the whole experience. I will definitely go back. Pros: food and service Cons: music a bit loud more

GREAT food!!! 4/30/2010

I live around the corner from this restaurant and frequent many brooklyn restaurants. The food here is exceptional, the wine prices are reasonable, and the service and atmosphere are outstanding. I've CONSISTENTLY experience quality service and food at Anthony's. The prices are reasonable (this IS New York City) and the portion is appropriate (as another poster wrote, if you want massive portions move back to Missouri). I LOVE Anthony's and I have eaten here every other week for almost 3 years. Pros: Fantastic food, great service, exceptional atmosphere Cons: absolutely none more

Neighborhood Gem 3/31/2010

Reallllyyyy good pizza. This is the first pizza place I discovered in Park Slope that I really enjoy. The pies are kinda small but they're also really delicious and relatively inexpensive. I've ordered delivery from them a million times, they are THE FASTEST. I also love dining in, nice atmosphere and nice service. more

Decent Food, Poor Service 8/6/2009

WE have lived in park slope for a year and a half, and have looked at, passed by, and considered Anthony's on 7th ave for a year and a half, and tonight we finally took the plunge.\r \r To be brief, honest, and considerate. The service was S L O W W W W W W W W W W W W W W W W W W W. The staff was nice and very considerate of how S L O W they had been. \r \r The food was just average. I have eaten all over the country; this food is average. The arugala salad was awful. No salt, no taste, no acid, no good. I had Margherita Pizza and while much better than the salad, still very average. My friend had the veal, and it was good. Good. \r \r Whoever is running the show, read this. Tighten up the staff. Improve your food! Expand your wine list. We wont be back. Pros: eh Cons: poor poor service, average food more

We were just walking by.... 3/14/2008

When we peaked into Anthony's. The ambiance, laughter and familial atmosphere made us feel welcomed!\r \r Try the lightly breaded chicken cutlets with the fresh basil and tomatoes! more

Great Pizza, lively environment, great service... 10/28/2007

We just returned from Anthony's and I had decided to write a review based on my experience, it was sort of chilly tonight, making for a crowded front waiting area, I was told the wait time would be 15 minutes but I suspected otherwise, as we waited the guest ahead of us were seated, finally after 25 minutes of waiting, we were seated. I had an argument with the waiter on informing me that the wait time was only 15 minutes when in reallity it was much longer, this was important since I had my 3 year old son with me. He appoligized and all was forgiven, he even gave us complimentary eggplant parm, very delicious I might add, we ordered salad, tomato with mozerella, two cokes, and a margarita pizza.\r \r Overall the experience was great, the service was great, the food was great, the time it took to get the meals was great, I would defenitely recommend another visit. The place is a bit small which adds to the charm but plan for an extra wait time as they are pretty busy at times. I tipped 25% to my satisfaction. Pros: Great service, friendly, great food Cons: Small space, longer wait time, a bit dark for kids more

Good Food....well, it better be at those prices! 7/15/2007

The food is good, but the price tag is significant. I guess it goes along with the wealthy, nose-in-the-air people that live in the area, but it probably wasn't worth it in the end. There are better pizza places to choose from in the area, and you won't have to sell your soul just to have a nice dinner. Pros: pretty good food, nice atmosphere Cons: too expensive for what you get more

Great Pizza, Service 6/24/2007

My cousin brought me here because she lives down the street. They have fantastic pizza and I tried one of the specials, a saltimbocca that was delicious. We sat outside in the garden. Service was great-- they were so accommodating (and we have a big family with lots of kids). It's also cheap, considering most of the restaurants in the area. I definitely plan on going back. Pros: Kid-friendly, great pizza more

I LOVE this place 6/24/2007

Anthony's is definitely one of the best restaurants in the Slope. I've been going there since it opened. The pizza and salads are delicious and the owners are incredibly sweet (and not too bad on the eyes either). They treat everyone like family. Definitely recommended! Pros: Service, Food, Price Cons: Small more

NOT IMPRESSED 5/7/2007

while in brooklyn this weekend, is asked around for a good italian spot to eat at. anthony's came highly recommended. while the pricing is ok but unfortunately the food was bland (mine was semi burnt - i smelled it before they even put the food down in front of me)\r \r overall i would not recommend this place. Pros: nice place, nice staff Cons: bland food more

Best Pizza in Park Slope!!! 3/17/2007

I really don't understand some of the reviews for this restaurant on this site. Complaints about the size and the price of the pies? One word for you ""dudes""...Dominoes. I hear they have a ""Brooklyn Style"" pie and I'm sure the price will be right for you. What you do get at Anthonys is a pizza made from people that know the importance of quality, not just in the ingredients, but in the preparation as well. Plus, the prices are on par with all the ""gourmet"" pizza places around the city. As for the service, I've been eating here for about a year now and I feel like family when I walk in. As for the ""I'm from NY and I know pizza"" line that you hear every so often, let me set a few things straight... I'm from New Haven, home of Sally's and Pepe's, and have been eating NY pizza for the past 15 years as well. Grimaldi's and Lombardi's are both completely over-rated, when you hear someone spout off about either of those places, it's a good chance that you're trusting the opinion of a person who gets their thoughts from a Zagats guide. You want the best pie in Manhattan, go to Patsy's, not the rip-offs, the real one on 118th and 1st. You want the best pie in all 5 boro's, go to DiFara's in Midwood, BK. And if you want the best pizza (and great food as well) in Park Slope and the neighborhoods around it, go to Anthony's. You want a big pizza for a cheap price, call Pizza Hut and stop talking like you know anything about pizza. Pros: Great service, incredible food. Cons: Fills up quick on weekend nights. more

Anthony's is nothing special - Bad Park Slope Pizza 1/21/2007

I passed Anthony's place a few times when in south slope so I figured I would give the pizza a try after having read a review on citysearch - My GF and I wanted to get some ""good Pizza"" and thought we would check it out and see if it compares with some of the other bklyn brick oven gourmet pizza joints...\r \r A small personal pizza costs $17.00 but its not even close to Grimaldi's in size or taste - Grimadi's ain't even the best in NYC but at least serves a decent sized pizza for the high cost. at Anthony's I ordered a pie for us and it was a 12"" personal pizza and in no way enough for 2 people - for 17 bucks the pizza has got to be bigger than that fellas, sorry to say it but it ain't even that good and I am from New York city, I am Bklyn not some out of towner (no offense). I had better pizza in friggin' Montauk at a low budget family joint so what does that tell you folks - look elsewhere for good gourmet pizza in the slope. more

Delicious Pizza!! 7/7/2006

We moved out here to Brooklyn recently and were prepared to make stop to Grimaldi's for pizza, but haven't yet - Anthony's pizza is delicious!! Great service and good food. Pros: great pizza, service Cons: can be noisy more

From Naples to Brooklyn 6/20/2006

This is a fantastic restaurant...the pizza, the service, the pasta...everything.\r I'm not sure why some of the other comments complain about the service or portion size. If you are looking for bigger pizza or pasta included with your dish...move back to Missouri and go to this other amazing place called the Olive Garden! You'll feel like family.\r Anthony's is by far the best in the Slope! more

Good Italian in S. Slope 4/13/2006

Short and simple... great food, great service, excelent atmosphere. Luckily we went on Sunday and had the chance to experience a home cooked Ragu sauce just like nonna used to make. Owners are in the place, talking to you and making you feel at home. One of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had!!! more

Extremely Overpriced 3/25/2006

First time trying Anthony's, I called for delivery. I asked for a large pie. They only have one 12"" size. I opted for that. It cost $12 and I ate it in two bites. It was very tastey but for $14 after tip I felt like I got cheated. Pros: Tastey, Fast Delivery Cons: OVERPRICED more

small soda 3/13/2006

Expensive and small portions. Main dishes should include pasta. Taste is just average compared to other restaurants of this type. Service is friendly but not very attentative. Who ever heard of 8 Oz bottle of sodas, especially at 2.50 a pop? Would never go there again. Pros: nice decor, friendly service Cons: expensive, small portions, small restrooms more

terrible service 3/11/2006

i have been to anthony's a few times. one of the owners can be rude, the service is slow, they ignore you, and lie about the wait time. if you don't mind all of that, the pizza is good. more

A welcome addition to the neighborhood 3/5/2006

I passed Anthony's one afternoon and added it to my list of restaurants to try. I dined with 3 others on a recent Saturday night and was pleasantly pleased. After a brief wait (enough to finish a round of drinks) we were seated and the ordering began. We started with a couple of salads and were amazed by the portions. We then moved on to what else - pizza. A good selection of fresh toppings are offered and we enjoyed every last bite. Next time we'll pick from the good selection of entrees. Overall service was great. Definitely recommend Anthony's - cozy, friendly atmosphere and excellent food. Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly more

Great pizza, great pasta 2/18/2006

I've had delivery from Anthony's 4 or 5 times and dined once with my husband and 2 year old. It's a good place for kids. The pizza is always fabulous. Their marinara sauce is so good that I've been trying to rework mine to match theirs. The gnocchi is addictive. The only con for me is when we get delivery, the girl that takes the orders always hears things incorrectly. You either have to repeat yourself ten times and you receive things you didn't order. I've just learned to go over the order 3 times with her. Pros: Casual, Great Pizza Cons: Mistakes on delivery more

Owner Message
  • "Anthony's has been Sal Buglione's dream for years: a restaurant named for and dedicated to his father, a mason from outside Naples. But when Anthony Buglione passed away unexpectedly, his restaurateaur son nearly abandoned the plan, focusing instead on his involvement in the burgeoning Nick's Pizza chainlet. Buglione persevered and he built the sort of homey southern Italian restaurant & pizzeria he'd always imagined. Buglione's brother makes the mozzarella. His mother will step in on Sundays to make "the real ragu". Pizza (whole pies only) is the province of pizzaiolo Bart Agozzino, a veteran of Naples' legendary Trianon, whose father, Alfredo, built Anthony's gas-fired brick oven. "Our mothers are gonna be in the kitchen," say Buglione, who'll incorporate their specials into a menu of pastas, chicken & veal and his father's beloved baked clams." NY Magazine
