Help is around the corner 2/20/2014

We brought our cat Whiskers in to see a doctor because he had been sneezing A LOT for 3 days. He was seen the day after I called by a wonderful young doctor who was very gentle. Our cat had not been in a carrier since we adopted him 2 1/2 years ago and was very stressed out and complaining loudly. After calming the cat and examining him, the doctor took blood. We were given antibiotics and instructions. Later on, while eating dinner, the hospital called to give us the good news about the blood tests. It was very comforting and reassuring. The hospital is cleaner than most medical centers and the staff is very responsive and professional. Whiskers is fine now. I recommend them highly more

Angels at Angell 1/23/2014

I recently needed emergency treatment for my 8 yo Boston. Both my pet and I were very well treated. I came away with the impression that you and your pet are a priority. Be patient with the wait time unless your pet seems to be distressed. I found the staff to be courteous and attentive. The facilities were clean and inviting. The wait was a bit longer than I anticipated, but I appreciated that my case may not have been considered a priority as there were likely others who had more urgent need of assistance. more

Angell Memorial Hospital 1/19/2014

Very well organized processing of patients, nice new facility, highly expert staff. The Mass. General of animal hospitals. \r \r My cat Sandy was referred by my local vet, Dr William Looby, to Dr. Rosenblad for evaluation of possible feline oral resorptive lesions (that cause teeth to fall out and make the mouth hurt). At the first appointment, Dr. Rosenblad presented lots of information and outlined the surgical strategy. Sandy had teeth removed in Dec 2013 and since then has been more energetic, eating more, and generally happier. At her follow up visit in Jan 2014, everything looked good. So it all worked out as Dr. Rosenblad predicted it might. My other cat, Kuru, will be getting an appointment for evaluation also, as they are siblings. more

Completely satisfied with Dr. Brum and staff. I found everyone kind and it was a pleasant experience. \r \r I felt that Dr Brum was thorough when examining my 10 yr old golden retriever. He made sure he understood what my concerns were and what kind of changes I was experiencing with my dog starting in September of this year. Most of all, I left \r Angell feeling that his diagnosis was pretty spot on. I felt much better knowing what was causing my dogs pain and that we had several avenues to chose from using medications to ease my dog's pain. \r \r Thank You for Caring! more

Everyone there is working to take the best possible care of your pet and to help you with your concerns. State of the Art comes to mind as well. Wonderful and caring staff. My favorite part was the personal liason I was able to leave my dog with, she sent me emails and pictures throughout the day. It was great to have that so I wouldn't worry all day. So much better then if I had just dropped my dog off and been left to wonder all day. Also being able to set up an account for people to put money into for the bill made the whole thing possible. I would never have been able to get this surgery for my dog without it. That goes for the financial aid I received from Angell. The people in the Admin office who answered my endless calls to check in on my account deserve a reward. I think I spoke with Trevor the most! The personal attention, the world class care and facilities. The history of the place, my father brought me with my sick kitten to Angell nearly 35 years ago. We lived all the way in Swampscott at the time, but we drove late night into Boston because he knew you were open. I'll never forget that; my kitten had crystals in his urine and the vet doubt saved his life! It made a huge impression on me, and I've been a fan of Angell ever since. more

Angell Animal Medical Center is the ""Mass General Hospital"" for animals. In other words, it's one of the top veterinary facilities not only in MA, but in the nation. Although, it is one of the most expensive. The doctor and the follow-up technicians were all very informative, compassionate, and understanding. They worked with me to find the most cost-effective means, and convenient times for my schedule for the treatments my dog needed. I was very pleased and would highly recommend Angell Medical Center to any of my pet-owner friends. I very much appreciated the compassion and comfort that was given to both me and my dog. more

highest degree of professionalism and care of a pet. 3/15/2013

The entire staff reflects the highest degree of professionalism and care of a pet. We are most pleased to be working with Dr. Carrie Wood. Her manner and skill merit the highest commendation.\r \r The assistants who work with her are caring and thoughtful in all their interactions with us.\r \r Needless to say, we are most satisfied that we chose Angell Medical Center for the treatment of our Polish Lowland Sheepdog Bradley.\r \r The professionalism and caring manner of the staff are highly evident. Their appointments are consistently on time, and that is appreciated. The level of communication with the professional staff is informative and reflective of a sincere interest in the reason that brings one to the Medical Center. more

\r They are not cheap! But putting that aside everything you need is under one roof and they are open 24/7 except for about 2 days out of the year. Sancho's primary vet and all the staff go out of their way to take care of him. He is an older dog with many issues so it is comforting to know they are always there for us and Sancho Overall Experience: Very Satisfied! As previously stated our primary vet is great along with the rest of the staff. There is always someone available for us. Very Likely to Refer.\r \r \r more

MSPCA ANGEL kill my dog (Boston) 6/26/2012

What of bunch incompetent morons, with only one goal to charge you money. I (actually my wife) run to this already twice. They cannot diagnose what happens to our dog first time and after almost a week in the hospital and bill of $4000 she by god wish and miracle survive. Second time(06-25-2012) our dog ending up dead. I am ending up with bill of $1800 hundred for just 2 days and no clear answer that happened. She develops a problem she never has before, and I count this people responsible for this! Way saying test will be done at 10:00, done later and because of this, another charge for next day, unclear billing, and poor communication. This is money extortion machine, not a hospital! They do not care about you or you animal. My dog came with pregnancy complication - to long in labor, ending up with mysterious breathing problem with "fluid" in lungs. Bunch of test - no understanding what and how it happens. But the first, claimed by doctor that dog eats and drink by itself - so there more

And now they are threating to send me to a credit breau unless i pay them 201.00 my the end of this week. FYI and then they want to charge 50.00 to a person for the cermation not a warm feeling as you enter the clinic..... cold and unfriendly appeard not to care about the welfare of your pets unless the cash flow waskinda big more

They don't care about your pet's life. 1/10/2012

DO NOT BRING YOUR PET TO THIS PLACE! \r \r On 12/12/11 I brought my beloved pet hamster to the emergency room and a woman named Doctor Emily Finn assisted her. I later found out that this person had just graduated from school in June 2011. She had only had be there at this hospital for 5 months. I shouldn't leave my pet with her. \r She first told me that my pet will have to be at the hospital for 3 nights and that it will cost me around $1250. Angell offered me two options, pay $1250 now or your pet will die. I was really confused and sad because I didn't have the money at that moment, but I didn't care about the money, I was very concerned about my pet's life and saving her life was more important than money. I had to speak on the phone with my boyfriend about this money, so that woman left the room without telling me anything else about my pet. \r When she came back to the room, she told me that our pet was in pain and that she will possibly die that night and that the best thing for my more

Where are kind and ethical veterinarians in the Boston area? 12/12/2011

I'm giving Angell Animal Medical Ctr just one star rating because I am still hurting by the callous and I believe money grubbing care that killed my beloved cat. I brought another cat before the death of the other cat to Angell in an emergency when my cat's paws were bleeding from ingrown claws. The surgeon assigned to me did excellent work. However, she or another vet at Angell prescribed strong medication for my cat to continue for a long period of time, which another vet at another clinic explained to me was causing my cat to stop eating. He told me my cat's paws were no longer infected and didn't need to be taking this strong medication, that it was making my cat sick. Angell also put large mitts on both her paws, making it impossible for my cat to move around. I asked if my cat would be able to move around with the mitts; the vet said, ""I don't know."" Thank G-d, Angell's instructions were to take my cat to a local vet daily for mitt changing. The vets there were humane and honest. Not only did they tell she was no longer infected and didn't need the medication, which was causing her to stop eating, but they immediately put small, thin mitts on her so she could move around. I think Angell has so many vets, many in training and many with different ethical values, that animals and their owners don't alway benefit. I try now to give my cats very nutritious cat food, vitamins, and I have books that I can browse for remedies that veterinarians and pet owners have found to help their animals, so I have some information before I go to a veterinarian. more

Dreadful and expensive! 9/21/2011

First off, I have never seen a Vet charge $141.00 for a ~ 10-minute visit without labs, procedures or medications! I went in telling the doctor what was wrong, a luxating patella. I had already seen a Vet that diagnosed her and said she needed surgery. After watching my dog walk and briefly examining her, it was a confirmed diagnosis and I was then referred to another specialist for lab work ups (additional 141.00 + labs). I had to call back to get an estimate on what the surgery would cost, $1500.00 MORE than Neponset and Emmerson Vet clinics! Also, if you are considering donating money to their ""charity organization"" you should know that they received the LOWEST rating possible by charitynavigator dot org. Not to mention that the CEO is making OVER 250000.00 a year. This place seems to be all about making as much off of loving pet owners as possible. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! more

If you care about your pet, please take it elsewhere... 7/7/2011

I am shocked and appalled about the treatment my pet and myself received in this hospital. The feeling I am left with is that I had to put my 20-year old cat to sleep, because this people push you into a corner with an enormous amount of money to pay for treatment. You will receive this bill estimate before you receive any diagnosis or prognosis for your pet. It is all about the money in this hospital without any sympathy for pet and/or owner. I regret the fact that I did not wrap up my cat on the spot and left the place. Please prevent this from happening to yourself and avoid this place!!!! more

angel Medical center is a glorified hospital. While I believe thier Vet's are great, the whole concept is about money. They suppose to have started out being a place to help the low income community. that is no longer the case. Their prices are through the roof. Low income families fight to have low cost medicall help and usually lose the battle. They do NOTHING to help the communtiy and the stray and abandoned animals. They receive HUGH amounts of money from rich doners and do nothing in return. I wish I could speak to the people who donate large amounts of money to them and let them know the real deal. I do resuce in Boston and do alot of it. It is a full time job that takes alot of income and I receive NO HELP at all from Angel Nothing!!!! I could use their doners donating to us the people who do the hard work of rescue and foster and placement without financial help from anyone. Angell sucks yet the big bucks keep going to them instead of us the small rescue groups who do the more

A mixed report-- 3/31/2011

The neurologist, Dr. Farabaugh, who treated our very ill 10-year dog, was excellent: we have great respect for him, for his hard & excellent work and warm, friendly, supportive manner. The women who cared for our dog in intensive care, during a long and difficult period--they were attentive and very good throughout.\r If you bring your pet to Angell Memorial, however, be prepared: it is very, very expensive. We are fortunate--lucky: we could pay the bills. But the bills are very high.\r And the billing office at Angell: the way that billing & paying are done in this office and at the front desk is pretty shocking. So insensitive!\r When you bring in your pet, the staff, the vet, etc., examine the animal and fill out a "treatment" sheet. You then are told to proceed to an office where you hand the sheet to someone who adds it all up, and then asks for your credit card. Your pet may be in bad shape, even dying; you may be very upset, distraught. It's no matter--they are intent on getting yo more

A LOSS TO DEEP TO REPLACE 1/18/2011

Last nite I had to put down our family friend for over 7yrs. It was the most difficult thing we had to do. The staff in the registration area was really great and helped us through the process. Our beautiful Baby was treated with the upmost respect. The only problem I had is when we layed down on the floor with her when they put her asleep they wanted us to just leave her there and have someone come and get her with a stretcher after we had left. I was horrified and the thought that they would even think we would leave her on the floor just to be discarded like trash. We adopted her over 7 years ago from the Milton Animal Shelter when she was 6yrs old and would never even think of her or any animal just being left there alone. The doctors need to work on their people skills a whole lot better. WE LOVE YOU BABY!!!!!! AND WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE JOY YOU BROUGHT INTO OUR LIVES. more
