I love Andalu. I always take my friends from out of town here. It's all about the Gruyere fondue. Served with toast and apples and pears...and simply awesome. The Ahi tacos ar...

I have to agree with the previous review: great food but the portions were awfully stingy with the prices they charge. It may work when the dot-com was still booming or if you wan...

Tapas in the Mission 9/26/2005

Andalu is a great place for birthdays, romance or casual dinner. The waiter was a bit slow at first but it was worth waiting. the food is Just amazing especially the Gorgonzola cheese fondue, the mac and cheese, the calamari. A small tapas plate goes from 5 to 10 dollars. Hard to find parking. more

Big Group - What We Ate (Tues. night) 8/27/2005

TOP FAVS: Braised short ribs, Tomato salad, Cheese fondue, Turkey lettuce cups, Crabcakes, Grilled Eggplant, Duck confit, Donuts w/ Hot Choc, Dulce de leche sundae, Banana Ice Crm OK: Squash, Mac & Cheese more like a chs sandwich, Ahi Tacos (can't really taste the ahi), Polenta Fries (interesting but similar to Chs Mac) SKIP: Mussels (nothing special), Moroccan Cigars (way too greasy) Our server recommended 3 dishes/person - we found that to be too much food for a large group of 11 people. more

International Small Plates 5/16/2005

Andalu's a great small plates restaurant in the heart of the Mission District. I've been there on dates and with groups and in both cases the ambiance and the dining format works very well. Try the coca-cola braised short ribs and the ahi tuna tacos. Also, the donut holes and hot chocolate for dessert is not to be missed. Andalu also has an extensive wine list and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and will be happy to walk you through it. As an interesting side note, ladies seem to regularly develop crushes on chef/owner Calvin Schneiter. (It could also be that I'm a boring date.) Make a reservation on weekends. more

Hip small plates restaurant with a fantastic list of wines by the glass 6/13/2004

Andalu, located at 16th and Guerrero, is a great addition to the thriving Mission-area night life. Great for dates and groups, Andalu offers international inspired small plates in a formal/informal atmosphere (it is what you make of it). Highly recommended. more

The cuisine explodes with flavor in every dish. Great for couples on up to large groups, Andalu also features a mezzanine that is great for private events and wine dinners

  • Under a vaulted sky-blue ceiling painted to look like the sky, window booths give way to intimate tables for two and a zinc bar. Servers are efficient and quick with recommendations of small plates...
