They have a huge selection of records and books, and they have the best price on books in town: a mere quarter for paperbacks, fifty-cents for hardbacks. Kids’ books are a mere dime each, as are magazines. The best thing of all is that like all thrift stores, the stock is continually shift like the ocean tides. At any thrift store, the quality of your shopping or browsing experience fluctuates with whatever they happen to have in stock. American Way is pretty reliable; rarely do I venture in and not find at least a few things that are of interest. The selection is pretty decent, and it seems like they update the stock fairly regularly. Pricing is fair (and if something seems too high, don't worry: the longer something stays, the lower the price goes) and tags are color coded and tied to daily specials. The staff is usually more-or-less friendly, and if they recognize you after repeated trips, they might even smile and say hello. If you plan on going on a weekend morning, you'll have to show up by noon at the latest for any serious shopping, or everything will already have been picked over...twice. more
