Without hesitation, I would have to say that this museum requires about 3 days of full attention. However, if you are just visiting NYC, like I do, I suggest you make sure to see ...

Love this place 11/16/2010

Always a good place to go on the weekends. People seem to think of the word boring when dealing with museums but this place is honestly interesting, and the halal vendor outdoors is awesome! more

Good if not better than the movies! 12/3/2009

The AMNH is one of the most organized and has some of the most friendliest staff workers in all of the museums in NY. In addition to their excellent exhibits, the food is pretty great as well! If you're a fan of the Night at the Museum movies, you definetly need to check it out! The museum isn't as decpicted in the movie because its 10 times larger, but you will get to see many of the ""characters"" from the series, beware there are often lines to have your picture with them-no charge though. This is my favorite musuem in NY and much more organized than the Met by far! Pros: realistic exhibits, educational, name your own price tickets Cons: Usually lots of school field trips more

HORRIBLE FOR HALLOWEEN 11/2/2009

Usually it is a great place to visit but NOT for Halloween. Our group was so disappointed. This was the biggest waste of money ($10 a person) It was an absolute nightmare. They were unorganized and made you feel like you were begging for the cheap candy they were passing out (only one, two if you were lucky) which was made up mostly of smarties and jolly ranchers. I will never go back again. To all the parents: SKIP IT for Halloween if you want to save yourself a headache. Pros: Nothing Cons: Chaos, unorganized, expensive for what you get more

I went with my school trip, quite interesting 6/30/2009

Each student payed how ever much they did want with donation. I payed a quarter and got in. But I payed almost a fortune to see the planetarium, but it was worth it. It like takes you to a different world. Awesome giftshops and gemstones, and educational books. You can learn about wildlife. I took notes from the moment I arrived. That dinosaur in the rotunda (lobby) is amazing and looks so real. You can see real fossils and dinosaur bones, and how the solar system was, is and how it will be in years to come, and so will the universe. This place is diverse. The security guards can be a bit bossy and observe people like hawks, and watch you often, and wouldn't be pleased if you touched anything around, which the kids especially love touching everything they see. Hall of biodiversity is like another dimension itself. They have virtual touch reality screen computers where you can find out different artifacts about the animals. You guys should google it, they even have sleepovers for the summer season. I hear they have jazz. Friday nights or used to. This is one adventure you wouldn't wanna miss out on. It's worth the experience. Pros: It's worth going to study culture, animals, and history Cons: rude staff more

interesting place to go 4/17/2009

This place is a good way to spend a few hours in nyc if your into animals and history. Theres a lot to see here and no matter how many times you keep coming back youll still never be able to see everything. The only drawback is the parking it takes too long and the garages around the area are very expensive. more

Worst ""ice"" rink 12/30/2008

The new Polar Rink was HORRIBLE. The polymer materials is nothing like ice nor is it fun. It is tiles put together which has edges popping up and the dull blades make it impossible to glide. I took kids there and they were bummed out! The charge for an hour would be ok, if you actually got the full hour but by the time you get your skates and then they tell you it's over, you may get about 40 minutes. I will never go back. Pros: Great museum Cons: Terrible skating rink more
