CROOKED AS THEY COME 10/21/2009

Crooked As They Come !!! I dropped off a brand new comforter to be cleaned and brought home a ratty blanket filled with more holes than piece of swiss cheese. After several trips to American Cleaners with my damaged merchandise, I was informed that they would neither reimburse or repair the damages. At this point, I asked to speak with the manager. I was informed that ""Kevin"" would contact me. Needless to say, I never heard from Kevin, and took the initiative to contact him directly. Despite the repeated voicemails I left for Kevin, he did not return any of my calls . After weeks of being ignored, I returned to American Cleaners and asked what Kevin's hours were. The employee looked at me like I was crazy, and said ""NEVER"". Apparently, Kevin is too busy managing nine (yes, NINE) dry cleaners to show up on site. I then requested Kevin's last name, which she refused to give me. Determined to speak with someone who would actually work with me to resolve this issue, I asked for the owners name and contact info. Again, this employee refused to provide me any pertinent information other than the owners first name, ""Jody"". Having exhausted all of my options, I left one final voicemail for Kevin, informing him that if he did not contact me, I would be forced to file a report with the Better Business Bureau. True to his nature, Kevin did not return my call, and I did ultimately file a complaint with the BBB. To date, American Cleaners continues to ignore several attempts made by the BBB to address this issue and the deadline to respond has now passed. At this stage, I have no other choice but to file for damages in small claims court. In sum, American Cleaners ruined a brand new comforter and refuses to take accountability. Under no circumstances will they address this issue with myself or the BBB. The unethical and unprofessional behavior exhibited by American Cleaners and it's staff is appalling and should serve as a stern warning to their existing and potential customers. Cons: everything more

Steer Clear of American Cleaners 8/27/2009

Avoid the American Cleaners location on Jollyville Rd. at all costs. I have attempted for weeks to get them to return my clothing. It would take too long to describe the gory details. Enough to say that after three visits and a large number of phone calls, I am left with contradictory statements about what's in their records, unfulfilled promises to investigate and get back to me, unfulfilled promises to return my phone calls, outright falsehoods contradicted by my Pickup Ticket, and no satisfaction. Steer clear of these scamsters. Cons: Atrocious Service, Inadequate Cleaning more

Avoid these dry cleaners!!! 9/11/2008

I would avoid these dry cleaners as they lost my clothes an have been unresponsive in reimbursing me for my loss. I've experienced extremely poor customer service and lack of concern on the manager's part. From what I've been told my experience is not unusual. Pros: Parking is easy Cons: Horrible customer service, unreliable - good chance your clothes will get lost more

Careless and unreliable with you and your clothes. 6/16/2006

I thought getting a skirt dry-cleaned was a straight-forward affair: drop off, pay, pick up. American Cleaners on South Lamar just hasn't caught on to this wave of the future. The first time I tried to pick up my skirt, it still had a large obvious stain on it. The second time, that stain was gone, but there was a NEW stain that the cleaners had kindly left elsewhere. The THIRD time I tried to pick up my skirt, the new stain hadn't come out, and the delicate linen was showing a lot of wear from their carelessness (two rips). At that point, I was happy to take my skirt--and my business--elsewhere without causing a fuss, but THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME BACK MY SKIRT. They wanted me to PAY for their services of staining and ripping my skirt. That's right, my skirt is being held hostage. I don't get it back until I pay the ransom on its head. Now I'm supposed to call the manager on HIS time frame ( at 7am a full two weeks from the date I originially dropped off my item) so that we can discuss a 'discount' for their unique services. In summary, American Cleaners treats you and your clothes like the dirt they're supposed to remove. Pros: location Cons: damage clothes, terrible customer service more
