Best hair experience since moving from Detroit Michigan 4/7/2008

My husband and I were hesitant from moving from Michigan a few months ago. I looked online to City Search and after reviewing what clients who have visited Alexander Hair Salon had to say, I thought we would give the salon a try. Debbie was outstanding in her ability to make myself and my husband feel comfortable. She did a teriffic job on both of our hair. We are BOTH pleased (which isn't always the case) I am very happy with the recommendation for Alexander Hair Salon in Orlando.. and I have recommended the Salon to others... great haircut 3/28/2008

Just moved into Orlando 4 months ago from New York and have been very disappointed with the level of hairdressers in this town. That is until I came across Alexander Hairdressing Salon from reading reviews on Orlando City Search and decided to give it a try. To my delight it was everything I was looking for and more... great service, friendly faces, great atmosphere, and most important a fantastic haircut Debbie (the owner) took the time to make sure everything about my haircut was customized to my face and life style. I highly recommend! more

THE WORST EVER! 3/25/2008

Please listen to the reviews! This was the WORST salon experience I have ever had! I found the salon on this website, and thought I might make my own opinion (I unfortunately overlooked the bad reviews). I showed up for my appointment with Debbie, which of course she was late for, and before we even started someone was trying to sell me something. When I finally had a chance to meet with the ""owner"" she spent 20 minutes telling me how awful my hair looked. (you go to a new salon to get a new look, not to feel bad about yourself!) She also snuck a ""treatment"" into the service. I say this because my bill reflected something I did not agree to. My haircut was okay but NOT what I asked for. When I questioned the route we were going she quickly snapped at me, you know, the person paying for this ""service"". All the while, as the other reviews say, the constant selling of products was SOOOOOOO annoying. A little class goes a long way. By the time we had finished I just wanted to get the hell out of there. My bill was well over $100 for a subpar haircut and bad service. I have never been so angry! When I told a friend about my experience she told me she had been and had a similar experience. I can't believe this salon is still open. Save your money and keep looking!! Listen to the reviews!! REALLY hard sell 3/4/2008

I read the reviews before making an appointment to go see Debbie so I was prepared for a really hard sell and somewhat annoying personality. Let me tell you that is a HUGE understatement! While I was in need of new cut, the overall service is not one that I would recommend. Debbie was running 45 minutes late which was annoying but the least of my problems. She spent two hours on my hair and while I am happy with my cut (it's cute but average) the two hours of her PUSHING her products was enough to make me really annoyed. She says that she 'tells it like it is' but I personally think she lacks the basic social skills to understand pleasant conversation. I like a hairstylist who can gossip and you can share a few good laughs with! Pros: Decent Haircut Cons: Overpriced and lots of pressure to buy product more

Really Disappointed 2/12/2008

The person who had been doing my hair is no longer at the salon I was going to and I don't know how to find her, so I browsed through city search and found Alexander Hairdressing. I called this morning and asked for an appointment and could get in today. Dante cut my hair. He consulted with me beforehand and when I was telling him the length I wanted, he even pointed out the length of his last client who was leaving. I agreed , but said just a touch shorter than that. I said I wanted my hair to rest on my shoulders. Well it DOESN'T rest on my shoulders. It just touches them. When he was finished, he asked me how it was and I told him what I am telling you. He then went on to tell me that it WAS resting on my shoulders. (too bad I can't post a picture on here) He also asked what I wanted him to do. Well, you can't put it back. Now I have to wait for it to grow. Thanks. So he says next time he'll leave it longer. Next time? Then I go to pay-- the least he can do for doing what I didn't want is give me a break on the cost, it shouldn't have cost me anything, really. Instead he charged me $63.00. My biggest mistake was leaving a meager tip. I just shouldn't have left anything. I didn't even get an apology from him. I left and cried in my car. Every time I catch my reflection I want to cry. Now that I've been able to look at it and play with it and see what I can do with it, I can honestly say I hate it. I feel like I got ripped off. $63.00. Are you kidding me? Pros: Angie--an assistant is VERY nice. Receptionist also nice. Great music playing. Cons: Did not get what I asked for, told them and still was charged A LOT. more

I'm a +20 yr customer 1/21/2008

i've been following Debbie around Central Florida for over 20 years because she gives the best haircut, no one else has ever been close!!! I was so happy when she opened her own shop because her dedication to quality now extends to everything in her environment....the BEST... Pros: Always a great cut, lots of compliments Cons: pricey but worth it more

I have to agree with other reviewers that the salon itself is small, but all of the staff makes you feel welcome and offers top-notch service. I had been to the salon previously and had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, the person who cut my hair is not there currently and I was called and informed about this. I scheduled an appointment with another stylist, who turned out to be the salon's owner. more

If you have curly hair, this is the salon you've been looking for! 10/4/2007

This salon is a compilation of Orlando's best talent under one roof. I have been a client of some of the stylists there over the years and now all of my favorites are together! I'm picky about who cuts my curly hair - I'm vain about it. I can trust myself in this salon to say, ""Do what you think is best,"" and know that I'll get just that - their best. It's the kind of cuts that you can actually work with - not just limited to what they made you look like when you got out of the chair. You can do it at home and they can show you how. Dante and Debbie are masters at their craft and I highly recommend them to anyone that asks. It is a little pricey, but it ain't Super Cuts. You're going to love what they do. I can't say enough about them! And they know curly! Pros: Very experienced staff, listen to me, on-time or short wait, nice ambiance, very clean Cons: Wish it were a little larger inside, but they're a growing business more

Finally found a Great Hairdresser! 9/23/2007

After years of dedication to another salon that I was not happy with, I finally made the move to Alexander Hairdressing. I did my research (which isn't always fail proof) and decided on Debbie. From the moment I met her, I knew that I was in capable, caring hands. My hair was in bad shape and the cut was atrocious! I have just finished my second visit with Debbie and the difference is astounding. I haven't gotten compliments on my hairstyle in years. I am always getting compliments now! Debbie suggested Kerastace products, which I tried and I am glad I did. I can't believe the difference in my hair. It is healthier, it moves and shines! I couldn't be happier. To add to the wonderful experience, these people treat you like you are a queen. They order food for you and have it delivered. They are always asking if they can do anything for you. The atmosphere is relaxing, absent blaring hard edge music... and I leave with a sense of well being and contentment. I could not recommend this place any more highly! Pros: friendly, good prices, parking available in back of building, highly skilled!!!! more

best orlando has to offer!!! 9/17/2007

I am a new client to Alexander Hairdressing. I can tell you from my first experience that you feel welcomed right from the start! As soon as I walked through the door, someone was right there to greet me and offer a beverage. The prices are higher than I'm used to, but it's well worth it! I had my color done with Jessie and my cut with Dante. They talked with me for a few minutes and listened to my concerns and they gave me some advise on what I should do. They were right, because I love the way my hair looks and feels! I was very relaxed the whole time and left feeling great! Oh and I received a treatment on my hair and it feels great! (the message is well worth it too:) Pros: good parking, the hair treatments! Cons: a little pricey more

I have been a client of Debbie's for over seven years now. During this time she has provided me with amazing haircuts, color, and product recommendations. Her salon is top notch in every way, Debbie always makes sure that her staff is beyond courteous and well informed on all of the salons services. Every time that Debbie cuts my hair I am amazed at her attention to detail. It is very obvious that she takes extreme pride in what she does and she will go above and beyond to ensure the satisfaction of her clients. more

A girl's best friend is a good hairdresser!!! 6/18/2007

Moving into a new town and finding a new hairdresser that can replace someone you have a long and trusting relationship with can be extremely scary. Luckily a work colleague recommended Alexander Hairdressing. I had a really enjoyable experience on my first visit that made me feel very special and well looked after. The lady cutting my hair was called Debbie; she gave me a detailed consultation which immediately put me at ease. She advised me on styles that would suit my hair type and my lifestyle. My haircut was amazing; this girl really knows her stuff! I purchased some of the Kerastase shampoo and conditioner and I am completely sold on this product, it is doing wonders for my fine hair (wish I had found this stuff years ago!!). Truly satisfied customer, already booked my next three hair appointments. Well worth the money! Pros: Good parking, profssional service more

I just received a new style from Alexander today as a present from my daughter, and I am really impressed with Debbie! She is amazing! She has such a wealth of knowledge of hair, hair care products, and styling techniques. Some stylists may think they know the mechanics of hair cutting, but she seems to take it to another level. I appreciated her effort in teaching me how to maintain and create the same styling results at home that she was able to produce in her hands at the salon. Now I know what to do with my hair! I've had my hair done at various expensive salons and I have never had anybody seem to know as much about my hair and what I can do to work against it's kinks and faults. Finally! Money well spent. 4/8/2007

I have been going some where else to get my haircut and color. Well let?s just say not good, too many colors going on. Then I saw a family member with her new color, highlights, and cut, it looked gorgeous, I had to ask where do you get your hair done? It looks great! So I called on a Saturday and booked with DEBBIE the following week. We talked, I told her what my family member had, I told her I trusted her, what she thought I should do. She had to color correct my hair, then did AMAZING highlights, and cut. WOW, I have never gotten my hair to look like that from anyone else. DEBBIE ROCKS!!! She is going to help me grow my hair the way I want, which by the way was butchered by someone else. That night I went out, DEBBIE you were right, they where all jealous. They loved it and believe me I am sending them all your way. I am also impressed with the Kerastase products, my hair looks and feels great, customer service, when I walked in I was greeted, offered something to drink, top notch. Alexander Hairdressing is clean, warm atmosphere and professional, this is a 100% satisfaction experience. I can go on and on. DEBBIE, you are an angel, and I will keep saying that, you worked out a miracle, and gained a customer for life! You ROCK!!!! Candra also did a great job on my Eyebrows and I was introduced to European Eyelash Tinting WOW! That is amazing! I will be back and recommend everyone I know!! superb service! LOOK NO FURTHER - this is the best cut and color anywhere. 3/18/2007

I've often wondered why getting a decent haircut and color seems to be so difficult. Then 7 years ago, I met Debbie Sheehan - she's in an entirely different class! Her talent, knowledge and creativity only outweigh her desire for superb client service and care. By far the best cut and color anywhere. The salon itself is in College Park - an awesome location. It's a small salon which allows for attention to detail without being pretentious. The entire staff is amazing...skilled, attentive and personable. And I've watched the other stylists at work - incredible! Personally, I am SSSOOOO sad that I'm now in Seattle and cannot find a decent hairstylist. Curses!! I have been spoiled by Debbie Sheehan and Alexander Hairdressing!! I had to fly home for the 2006 holiday season just to get my hair done. Maybe I'll just have to travel 3000 miles every 6 weeks or so...it would be well worth it! Pros: skilled hairstylists! great location. more

Top Hair Salon in Orlando, with a small area of improvement 2/3/2007

This salon is without a doubt the best in expertise with color, cutting and styling. I couldn't recommed a better salon in all of Orlando when it comes to their capability!!!! All employess have displayed great results in whatever service they provide hair, eyebrows, product recommendation...etc. My only constructive criticism would be the high pressure to buy the products and in salon hair treatments. Let me first say I have used the hair products and had the treatments and they are excellent and again the top of the line. However, not everyone can afford $30 shampoos, conditioners, styling gels and hair treatments. I would like for it not to make an uncomfortable moment in my salon experience. If they are willing to work with those that can afford the experience to a certain point this is a wonderful place to maintain your hair. more

Finally, a salon I can return to! As far as I can tell, an upscale salon is an upscale salon: the employees are chatty, the atmosphere is hip, the music is usually okay. However, I have not (in a long time) visited a salon whose employees actually possess any real SKILL. Imagine that. I wanted someone who would offer me some advice as to what hairstyle will look good on ME (after all, they are the professionals), and to send me home looking different than when I came in. I know it seems very little to ask, but you would be surprised how much time and money I have spent trying to find exactly that. I found it here. I will return, no question. I would not recommend any place else. more

this is the most upscale salon orlando has to offer, the staff is friendly, down to earth, and the customer service is impeccable. it is a small cozy salon that covers all hair needs, and the staff works together as a well oiled machine, focusing on YOU during the time that you are there, from the moment you enter the salon, you are greeted with a smile, the 2 stylists are very much into their craft, but words dont do them justice, go in and observe, they are by far 2 of the most educated and talented hairdressers orlando has to offer. but dont take my word for it, go in and check it out, cold beers and foamy cappucinos, are served while you wait, lunch is ordered if you are going to be there for a few hours, only thing missing is wireless internet access, otherwise, this is really the best salon in town, hands down, go debbie, go dante, you guys love what you do and it shows, i will never get my hair done anywhere else as long as i live in town Pros: best products in town, highly knowledgeable staff, highly skilled, very attentive Cons: its cozy, and lacks wireless internet, only open late one nite a week more

Most Talented Hair Designer, and Great Service 11/12/2006

I have never before met anyone as talented and well trained as Debbie Sheehan, and I am consistantly thrilled with the experience that I have in her salon. I am complemented by strangers after seeing her, and am always more than happy to tell others to go to Alexander. The other staff have added to my positive experience (Gregg!), and I love how helpful they are about educating me on techniques and products that will help me achieve a great look at home. They all definitely know what they are doing, and I trust them over anyone else. Pros: Service, Talent, Atmosphere more
