Great Mexican food, friendly staff 2/18/2010

We go here often. It is good basic Mexican food , and the staff is always friendly . The prices are right and the menu is varied. We take our kids there and they can find something to eat. A great place to go for a budget. I particularly like the Tacos al Carbon and the fish tacos Pros: Good Mexican Food Cons: not many more

No thanks 3/18/2008

This was not good food. The service was just ok. The only good thing is that they have a ""choose your own combination"" option on the menu. I'm sticking with La Fogata. Pros: Combo choices Cons: Everything else more

It made our to-avoid list... 8/4/2007

Happened to go by the place and checked it out. Nicely done interior. Seating and order taken promptly. Order to food arrival time was long, even though the place wasn't even busy. It was so slow on a Sat afternoon that we almost became tired of different folks stopping by us again and again to ask if everything was okay. Noticed that the waitress who seated us and who was handling menus and other things all over the place was also going over to the tortilla warmer every now and then and putting tortillas for fajita orders into and out of the warmer with dirty hands. Taste of chicken fajitas was the lousiest fajitas I have even had in the last 10 years. Can't remember more.. Chicken quesadilla my wife got was okay. This place is on our never to go there again list... Pros: Located in a good area Cons: Long wait time, unhygenic practices, worst chicken fajitas ever more

Great Mexican food in southeast Denver 4/5/2007

This is a great Mexican eatery with authentic mexican dishes. It is not pretentious, but does pay attention to detail, the bathroom appearance was very clean. The food is plentiful, and the margaritas are as tasty as I have tasted, not to mention Grande!! It is hard to find good Mexican food in southeast Denver. I will be back, again and again. Until things change, that make me look elsewhere. Pros: Great Margaritas Cons: attached to Tamarack Plaza Mall more

Mexican for the entire family 11/16/2006

A hard review to write. Been going here for years but lately been just good , vs. ""Hey, we have to get back here soon!"" If you're in SE Denver, try this place on for size. The create your own plate, while not original, has a greater variety of dishes and heat then most places. When the waiter said to order my Chipotle sauce on the side, I could see why. The heat and smokiness is open enough that you can decide how much you want to put on your barbarcoa. Pros: Large enough for a quiet dinner for two or a family gathering Cons: Double check your orders with some of the newer staff. more

Bad Customer Service 6/18/2006

I decided to try this restaurant based on a couple of good reviews on City Search. Boy, do I feel like I was led down the old garden path. For starters, I didn't care for the atmosphere. The restaurant is located in a strip mall behind Tamarac Square. That made me feel like I was going to dinner at a hardware store. The food itself wasn't any better than commercial grade Mexican food. Didn't have a distinct taste or quality that jumped out at me and made me want to return. But what's more was the lack of service. I brought a date and we each ordered. This was on a weeknight, so it wasn't busy. Nutshell - it took about 45 minutes for them to get our dinner up. In the meantime, we saw our server only once. So after the first 10 minutes or so, we both needed a water refill. I ended up having to go up to the bar and ask for more water. To top it off, the manager acted put out when I motioned for him to come over. And then, it took us about 25 minutes to get our bill. Overall, not a good experience and very mediocre food. One can do much better for Mexican food in Denver. more

great 5/16/2005

This is now our favorite Mexican Rest. The food and service are great. The Margaritas are also fantastic. As soon as you enter the Rest. you are greeted so genuinely it is very inviting. Huge variety of food, been there numerous times and have not been dissapointed. The atmosphere is a lot of fun. Business has obviously picked up since last review. They are usually very busy. more

impressed 7/23/2004

my girlfriend and i went there the other day for lunch after reading the reviews in denver post. simply looking at the restaurant from the outside one may be a bit skeptical about the food....has a mall-ish look & feel to it. But the food is anything but your typical mall-restaurant food. salsa was quite good....deep red in color w/ a little bit of a smoky taste to it ...spicy but not burning hot....i got the carna asada....asked how I wanted the meat cooked which was nice. thin pieces of steak w/ a great flavor. black beans and spanish rice....well, you'd of course have to be trying really hard to mess that up. girlfriend got the chicken a la crema which she rellly liked as well. place was very quiet though...only saw 2 other customers in 1.5 hours. i will definitely be going back there.... more

best mexican food in denver 5/25/2004

I found this place after Kyle Wagner, the best and the harshest food critic in Denver, wrote a review about it in the Denver Post. The review was very favorable, according to Kyle her favorite Mexican food in Denver. Well that was enough for me. I made the trek and was very happy I did. I am now a regular and am known by name!! I have not had a dish I have not loved, a great family run restaurant!! Ajuua!!!! Pros: Great atmosphere, Family restaurant, Good Parking more

Great authentic Mexican Food 7/7/2003

Ajuua!! is now our favorite Mexican Restaurant in Denver. Great authentic food, good atmosphere, fast and friendly. Located at Tamarac Square Shopping Center (definitely not mall food) and just steps from Madstone Movie Theater. Cheese enchiladas and Chicken en Mole' and 4-milk cake are favorites. Good drinks. We must eat here once a week. Ajuua!! just opened for weekend breakfasts-again great food and SPICEY Bloody Mary's. Not sure how to explain the difference between average chain Mexican Restaurant food and Ajuua!!, but it's definitely a couple of steps better in our opinions. Pros: authentic food, friendly, good parking more
