Went above and beyond! 6/10/2011

Recently while driving through Salt Lake City in my motorhome enroute to Seattle from Phoenix, the transmission failed..of course it was cold, rainy and getting dark..not a great introduction to Salt Lake...but I found Peri and Affordable Transmissions online, gave him a call and he personnally came and picked me and my broke motorhome a ride to the shop....The price quoted was the best I found, the service was top knotch...in fact they worked until 11 pm to get me back on the road..Now that is going above and beyond!! Peri allowed me to stay in my motorhome both nights so I saved on hotel cost, the tow in was free and the base price quoted was honored. Its good to know there are still people out there that have pride in their work and place the customer at the top of their priorities....You are lucky Salt Lake to have Affordable Transmissions available to fix your auto and get you back on the road..... more

GREAT SERVICE< GREAT PRICE>>>NICE PEOPLE 5/17/2011

Last week I was driving my motorhome from Phoenix to Seattle when the transmission decided to stop working. Having no idea who to call in a strange city, I searched the internet and luckily found Affordable Transmissions. Not only did they come pick up the motorhome for free but I was able to stay in it while the guys worked their magic...In fact they stayed until 11 pm to try and get me on the road in time to make my follow on travel plans. The hospitality and honesty demonstrated by the Peri was not what I expected from a big city shop..but then again this in NOT like most of the other places I've had vehicles repaired over the years....While no transmission rebuild is cheap, the work and quality performed at Affordable Transmission is top knotch. Salt Lake City should be appreciate and support this shop to ensure locals and out of towners like me have a place they can trust for their auto repairs long in the future..... more

Great service 8/3/2010

I brought my 94 Audi Cabriolet for service as it was stuck in safe mode and was told by other shops I needed full rebuild. Glen looked at it and found it to be a wiring harness. Saved me $2000, Very pleased with them. more

Look elsewhere for your repairs 8/22/2009

Spent $2300 for rebuild of trans. Trans worked flawlessly, but it leaked. Returned it four times thinking how hard can it be to fix a leak? They broke the transmission chasing the leak. Kept it for a over a week while they tried to fix it and couldn't. Finally replaced much of the transmission internals and got it running. My interior carpeting on the driver and passenger side, was covered with grease from their shoes, as was the velour seat, so after a day of carpet cleaning and scrubbing, I noticed, hey, its still leaking, so back it went. After the fourth return without them able to correct the leak the previous three times, I told them I didn't want it back until it didn't leak. Kept it and four days later they said it was good, so I took it home. There I noticed that they had failed to put the wheel cover back on the passenger side, so I had to go back yet again, and pick up the cover. That is when I noticed that two of the five lug nuts on that wheel were not just loose, but almost falling off the studs. Such a safety issue, its not funny. Oh, and did I mention that it still leaks? Yep. According to my garage floor, each leak was from a different location on the trans, and now, six weeks later, the original leak is still there. A little hint for all repair shops. If someone says ""it only does it after you drive it, or let it site for a few days"" you need to drive it, and let it sit for a few days to prove that the problem is solved. Just slapping in a new gasket that you -think- was leaking, and sending the car home, is the wrong approach. Customers should not be the testers of your repairs. The owner is friendly, the manager is well versed. Perhaps its the other workers who lack the skills, but I recommend that you find some other place to get such an expensive repair done. To be able to rebuild so complex a transmission, and then be unable to stop a leak, tells me a lot about the skill set of whomever did the work. Pros: Friendly, courteous Cons: Can't do the job more

Took over a month to repair under warranty 6/8/2006

I had a transmission repaired at out-of-state shop that sold me an the ATRA nation wide warranty. This warrany turned out to be quite a mess. Affordable had to remove the transmission and ship it back to the origional shop. They had to rebuild it and send it back. Then it took affordable 3-days to put it back in the car. The origional job took 3 days to order parts, take it out, rebuild it, and put it back in. Now that it is done, I have to wait until the first shop mails a payment to Affordable. Pros: They didn't steal my car. Cons: Took way to long and bad communication. more
