Let me start by saying that the dismal reviews of this place are spot on. My particular experience involved bringing in a Bang & Olufsen Beogram turntable to have Advisory attach a new DIN interconnect cable to it, which I brought with me. The original one was butchered when converting it to RCA outputs. When I arrive I am 'greeted' by Pat, the manager. The first words out of his mouth to me were that I brought the wrong cable. He doesn't explain further. I tell him that what needs to be done is to cut off one of the DIN connectors, and then solder the 7 wires onto whatever connectors that the 7 wires of the existing cord are soldered to. He goes to the back of the shop and comes back with the technical manual. He takes a look and decides I am correct. So we're not off to a good start. When I'm ready to depart I ask him if I could leave the big bag and bath towel that i brought the turntable to the shop in. I wasn't heading directly home and it would have been inconvenient to have to carry that with me. Pat denies my request, saying it would get lost. I reply that we could attach a note to it saying that it went with the Beogram 4500 turntable. Pat says the note could get lost. I was all ready to counter with ""why don't we staple the note to the bag"" but decided that Pat is the type of objectionable person that you cannot win against. So I take the bag and towel with me and go directly home, which I hadn't planned on doing. Also, when I was ready to leave the shop I asked Pat if we could verify that his work was done correctly when I pick the turntable up. Pat is agreeable to this and says that he had a record but that I'd have to bring a cartridge. That's fine with me, I replied (tho I’m not sure why he wouldn’t have a cartridge for testing purposes). That same night I decided to email him. My turntable was in pristine condition and half of B&O’s appeal is its appearance, therefore cosmetics are important. I ask him to put my turntable on something that’s padded when working on it so as not to mark/scratch the plastic lid and mirrored aluminum finish. I received no reply whatsoever. Anyone who is the least bit customer service oriented would have at least replied with a ‘No problem.’ Not Pat. When I showed up to pick up the turntable I put the cartridge that I had brought on the table in front of me and told Pat I'd like to check it out per our agreement. Pat reverses what he previously told me and said all he's willing to do is power it up to see if the platter will spin. Let me tell you - this guy has an attitude that you could cut with a knife. It's as if he's doing me a favor by working on my turntable. Fortunately the turntable worked, or else I would have had to make a return trip out there that wouldn’t have been necessary had we tested it when I was there.\r

In conclusion, DO NOT bring your equipment here for repair. If you own Bang & Olufsen equipment, there's another authorized repair shop in the city or, better yet, use the service that I usually use - Atlantic Systems in Hanover, Mass. They're authorized by Bang & Olufsen as their Northeast Regional Service Center. Yes, you'll have to ship the item to them but since they charge much less for repairs you'll still pay less. And you’ll avoid the aggravation. Also, they charge NO fee for a repair estimate, unlike Advisory, which charges $75. \r
Needless to say, I will NEVER be going back to Advisory for service of any kind. \r
