If you have lots of work done in your mouth and express that there is a great deal of pain in follow up visits, you should not have to beg for strong prescription pain medication. I was taking Tylenol Ibuprofen, Aleve and aspirin at the same time, and only at maximum doses for all, was there pain remediation. There is a large swollen painful mass under my tooth filled in October. I expressed this 2 weeks ago, and nothing was offered for pain or to treat it. I am not confident my needs are being met. I've never had so much pain after seeing the dentist. Even the tooth cleaning was extremely painful. I've not had just a cleaning be so painful before. Also, I asked the hygienist for Ibuprofen after the cleaning and she told me it was "in the bag". I got in the car, drove down the freeway, grabbed my water and looked for the Ibuprofen and none was in the bag. This was the first time I ever cried after getting my teeth cleaned. I was so busy I had to keep driving and going about my business with every part of my mouth hurting- all gums, recent work... The bite under the new crown hurts badly and I can't even use that side of my mouth to chew anything as the tooth with the filling hurts for about 2 months.
