Horrible service 11/7/2010

The service was so bad! He rolled his eyes everytime I asked for a refill. If you are looking for a nice dining experience I wouldn't recomend this place. If you are looking for a quick place with high priced food and low quality food this place is for you. more

Amazing buffalo shrimp and one of the best burgers in the city 9/2/2009

For anyone in Noho looking for a neighborhood bar with excellent pub food, you need to give this spot a try. more

Great Food and Cocktails 5/10/2009

Ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with eggs and home fries. The steak is off the chart , this dish could stand up to most chiefs and establishments. Great tunes on the jukebox of famous BE artists. This is an authentic BE place in the big city ! Pros: Food Atmosphere $$ Cons: none more

Did I ask for my food to go? 3/11/2009

I wasn't looking for linen tablecloths, fine china and crystal but I think if you order a po boy it should come dressed and not served on top of a wet tomato so the sandwich is soggy with two sealed plastic containers of sauces(takeout style.) The sweet potato fries were not fries but roasted wedges of sweet potato. The oysters and shrimp were cooked well but everything else was wrong. Disappointed Pros: friendly service Cons: takeout delivered to your table more

food was just bad. 10/30/2008

Nice and casual environment. It felt like being in New Orleans again 8/9/2008

I dined at Acme Bar and Grill in New York last night and it reminded me of being in New Orleans. The service was good, the food was good and there was no wait. Everytime I am in New Orleans, dining at Acme on Iberville Street in the French Quarters is a must. I live in New Jersey, so Acme Bar and Grill in New York is the next best thing. It has the New Orleans flavor, including choices of hot sauce (the green is really hot) and they play that good Nawlins music while you are dining. I would definitely dine at this spot again and plan on telling my friends and family about this restaurant. more

ACME has fallen a notch 7/31/2008

Went to ACME recently after being away for awhile and noticed its not as good as it used to be. The menu was the same. The waitress was professional and polite but overbilled me. ACME is a still a good restaraunt. Its a little pricey. It hasn't changed much over 12 years. more

Best weekend brunch 3/10/2008

I always go here, but only for their weekend brunches. It's $10.95 and you get a whole lotta food. I know it' s not authentic southern, cajun. Thier po boys are too small and not messy enough to be the real deal. But it's good food anyways. Their fried catfish and eggs rancheros are the best. Pros: Food, relaxed atmosphere Cons: For authentic cajun food, you might want to go somewhere else more

Worst Delivery Ever... 1/18/2008

Called them at 5:20 for a delivery. At 6:30 called again and was told it was "on the way". 7:30 now and the food still hasn't arrived. Unacceptable for Manhattan. more

this place it terrible, avoid it! 10/25/2007

i just had dinner here tonight. The food was terrible. the service terrible. The meatloaf was served cold. Dennys is better than this place. By far. So, i went to take a look at the past 15 reviews giving this place 5 stars, and sure enough... i checked the number of reviews that these people had on here. Only one. One review. That looks suspicious to me. Looks like the owner is desperate. The food and service were terrible, and honestly, i feel sick from eating the food. Pros: location, food type Cons: every single thing else more

ACME?s Finger Lickin? Good! 6/5/2007

This place is my absolute favorite restaurant in NYC! From the mouthwatering Maryland crab cakes to the scrumptious catfish fingers, I just can?t get enough! My absolute favorite is ACME?s award winning famous mashed potatoes with the white yummy gravy?DELICIOUS! Pros: Super fun atmosphere! more

Best Southern Food in NYC 6/5/2007

I love eating at ACME because the food is great and you just cant beat the casual, yet upbeat atmosphere. When I dine at ACME, which is quite often, I always leave stuffed from having eaten way too much but its worth it because everything on the menu is just so good. The staff is very friendly and down to earth. I love this place! more

Just like mother used to make 1/27/2007

As a southerner, it's always hard for me to find good comfort food in the city. Acme hits the nail on the head. Start off with some jambalaya before moving on to mac and cheese and garlic mashed potatos. The po' boys are authentic and delicious as well. Sip it all down with Abita. Pros: Mac and Cheese, Po' Boys Cons: None more

Going back for those sweet tater fries! 1/25/2007

Overall I thought the food we ordered (po' boys, jamalaya, etc) was great, but those sweet potato fries--lightly dusted with cinammon--are going to be my downfall! Pros: Great service--very attentive staff more

Great Cajun food 1/24/2007

The food was great. Authentic Cajun style. The sweet potato mash was delicious. The place is large so we didn't have to wait for a table on a Friday night. Pros: Great Cajun food, Sweet Potato Mash is delicious Cons: None more

Delishly Delicious 1/9/2007

Love, love, love ACME. If you like your food spicy, you'll love ACME too. The cornbread placed at every table before each order is hot and soft...just like granny used to make. The cajun corn is hot enough to start a 3 alarm fire in your mouth. Topped with butter, shredded cheese and cayenne pepper. The Jambalya states very similar to those found on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. more

  • The Scene
Chili-pepper lights and bright-colored hot sauce bottles line the walls in standard urban-roadhouse decor, but the East Village crowd, relaxing in ample booths and tables, makes this restaurant look more like a coffee shop. Beer is the choice beverage in the bar area, but the three-rum hurricanes, tasting more of citrus fruit than sugary syrup, provide a fresh take on the tall New Orleans cocktail.

    The Food
Nothing makes for better bar snacks than this down-home Southern menu. Whet your appetite with the whole-kernel corn bread, then wash down some hush puppies with a pint of Turbo Dog, a malty microbrew imported from Louisiana. The crispy catfish fingers appetizer makes a big meal in itself. Calorific sides dishes like mac and cheese and black-eyed peas come in good-sized portions. Cajun-style entrees, from po' boys to jambalaya, are geared toward extra-large appetites.
