Best

Frankly, this is the best brunch in Boston. The meals are tasty, large, and of good value. The service is exceptional - never is a glass of water left empty, never are you rushed ...

Worst

My first impression of Abe & Louie's was poor, as the host couldn't seem to find the reservation I had called in two days earlier, and curtly told me to stand in the lobby and wai...

The waiter 9/24/2003

Went on a Sunday evening, menu was very similiar to a lot of steakhouses in the area, as was the decor, but the waiter , went out of his way to accomodate us, his name was Cooper, and he made an ok meal a great one . Very helpful, the steaks themselves I would have like to have seen trimmed a little more for gristle, but the flavor was there , beef tartare ap was perfect, side of mushrooms and asparagus, and fries perfect. Decor was old mans club feel though. Pros: Waiter, Speed, Flavor Cons: Decor , Decor, Decor more

Great Brunch 8/27/2003

We stopped at Abe & Louie's for brunch. We received excellent service and the food was probably the best meal that we had in Boston for the week that we were there. The restaurant prides itself in the high quality of service that they provide. I was told that reservations are hard to get on Friday and Saturday nights, so plan ahead. Pros: Excellent Service, Great Food Cons: Parking Is Limited, Not The Best Location more

Can't Go Wrong! 3/12/2003

Food is consistently good and fresh. . .nice varied menu for a steakhouse. . .atmosphere is happening, always hopping - Michael the bartender is an absolute doll! Makes the place shine! Pros: Michael the bartender, Food, Atmosphere more

one of the worse restaurant 3/7/2003

This is the one of the worse restaurant I had ever been to... I ordered the sword fish... pretty expensive compare to other main course in the menu... when it came, the fish was burned and no taste at all, I had a couple bites but it was just too bad to be eaten... This is the first and only time that I have like more than 95% of the dish left on the plate... and don't want to take out at all... My husband ordered a steak, it was alright... with the price they charged... the quility of the steak is just not good enough... more

STEAK and all the rest! 2/21/2003

My favorite! Great Martini - Great Wine - Great Steak!! more

Highly Recommended 2/4/2003

The food was excellet. The steak cooked perfectly and the side dishes greatly complimented the steak. Nice wine list and great martini's. The waitstaff was very nice althoguh a bit slow. No doubt due to the masses that came to eat there. Definately not a place you would want to rush through your dinner anyway. Take your time, sit back and enjoy! Pros: Great Food, Good Atmosphere, Courteous Staff Cons: Bar too crowded, No Valet Parking more

Got Steak? 1/13/2003

Easily the finest steak establishment in Boston. The superb cuisine is supported by an excellent wine list, typical steakhouse decor and excellent service. The steak tartare and bone in fillet mignon with bearnaise sauce are my favorites. Pros: Food, Ambience Cons: Reservations, Parking more

Family favorite for beef & fish! 1/13/2003

Family all enjoy different preps of steak. Also fish is excellent...particularly swordfish chop. Apps are also very satisfying as well as desserts. Service has always been excellent...all around steak house favorite for my entire family. more

First choice for Steak Dinner 1/12/2003

We have been here several times for special occasions. Food is spectacular and service top-notch. The only down-side is being seated near bar as it tends to get very populated and can deter from a romantic dinner. This is always our first choice for steak dinner in Boston. more

awesome!!! 1/12/2003

Awesome blue cheese mashed potatoes. Even if you don't like blue cheese which I don't. I tried them without knowing what was in them and it was love at first bite more

PU, not a good experience. 12/4/2002

I have to say only one thing, PU! I had an awful dinner and my guypal had the same problem (ordered a different entre). It may have been a fluke, but first impressions make or break a place. more

The Westwood Group Rates High 12/4/2002

This is a top of the line concept put forth by the Westwood Group. Having spent half my life in the industry, I consider my opinion expert as many do who ask me where's a good place to eat. This is one of those places. I recommend it for those that want especially steak. It's expensive but well worth the money. Pros: Best Steak in Boston, Excellent Service, Well kept property Cons: Expensive more

A true International Feast 12/3/2002

excellent meats and wines. prompt seating and the service was excellent more

Ugh, never again 11/6/2002

Never have I received such a lack of responsiveness at a ""reputable""(???) restaurant. I dine out in nice restaurants often, both socially and with clients and this place should be embarrassed by the service they provide, I know I was! If you have a client in town, don't risk this one! more

The Best Every Time You Go! 10/8/2002

My Husband and I have been here several times, and we have gotten the best service and the food was fantastic every time. Need help with wine, they have a great wine steward who will suggest the best wine with your meal. Everytime we want to impress our friends, we bring them to Abe & Louie's. more

Steak Out!!!! 10/7/2002

I have become a regular attendee at this fine establishment. From the minute you enter the bar area you are immersed in one of Boston's finest restaurants. The SWORDFISH CHOP is excellent, as are all of the steaks. The salads are fresh and crisp. The wine list is more than adeequate. Pros: Great Food, Wine List, Best apple martini Cons: Bar to noisy, Booths a little tight, sevice sometimes slow more

Great restaurant! 8/2/2002

I work in the Back Bay so I eat lunch here often, and I would say it's the best lunch in the Back Bay. Much cheaper prices than dinner, so yes you can afford it. Amazing Steak and Tomato salad is under $16. Fantastic chicken mushroom spinach entree as well, which is only $11. All lunch entrees come with great bread as well. Try the french fries- best I've ever had. Crispy brown on the outside and soft on the inside! Pros: lunch menu is cheap, fantastic food, cool bar Cons: no free soda refills more

Moooo! 7/18/2002

Great classy steak joint. Very elegant. Delicious, juicy steak--not at all fatty. Cooked to your perfection. Very romantic. Pros: romantic Cons: expensive, hard to park more

Not bad at all 7/16/2002

This place is always busy so go if you like a crowd. The food is consistent and good as is the wine list. The service can be a bit rough especially in the bar area. Also, cleanliness may not be a top priority for this place but you got to hand it to them - they are ALWAYS busy -- GOLD MINE!! Pros: Consistent, Big Cons: Crowded, Noisy more

Screamers Obviously Welcome (SOW) 7/12/2002

This is where people go to scream at each other. Literally...the place is so noisy that people were screaming at each other. After 10 minutes I needed an aspirin, after 30 minutes I wanted to go home. Four hours later, my mouth was so dry, I felt that all the water had been drained out of my body. (I still don't know what had the salt in it.) If you don't want to communicate with the person you're with and get charged a hefty price tag on top ..you're gonna love this place. If you want to actually dine without discomfort...stay at home. more
