A Plus Transmission Specialty

These guys seemed really great at first, but I guess I was just being naive. Jamie would call me to give me updates on the work that was being done to my car, and I thought he was being very helpful. In the end, they did a bunch of work to run up a bill of $1000 just to figure out what the problem was. By that time, it wasn't worth paying that amount to have nothing done, so I my best option was to tack on another $1800 so that I could have my car repaired. This is a similar story to other reviews that I have read, but this only scrapes the surface. After trying to pick up my car several times, I was finally told that it was ready and I could pick it up an hour after closing. In hindsight, I should have been a little more suspicious, but I was ready to have my car back. When I arrived, my car was squeezed in between the wall of their office and another vehicle. This is an important detail because there were two workers inside at the time (an hour after closing), and as soon as I returned home I realized that my car was SEVERELY VANDALIZED. Large markings were CARVED INTO MY CAR in three locations - vandalism that could NOT be missed. I tried calling Jamie several times - he either dodged my calls or did not return them (I left 3 messages over the course of 2 days). After demanding that I be connected to his supervisor, he told me that he spoke with him and that his supervisor, who was never present for any of the incident, decided that my car was vandalized on the day that I dropped it off, so it was technically not in their possession and they were not responsible. This is a lie because I saw my car on the day that I went to pay (2 days before it was finished) and it had not been vandalized. I was also told that some workers ""thought they remembered seeing some scratches on my car."" The artwork on my car was about 2 feet by 2 feet in two of the three locations - impossible to miss. THESE GUYS ARE LIARS and I will NEVER recommend them to anyone. more

Please disregard the 5-star reviews. This place is well known for having their employees write fraudulent reviews. I was having transmission issues, so I took here car in to A+. They said that they would have to take the transmission out and take it apart to determine what exactly was wrong. This alone cost $385 and then they were to follow up with a quote. The car was in the shop for two days before they even looked at it. I had them fax me the quote for $3044. I sent this quote to three other repair shops, each of which beat this estimate by at least $500, the cheapest being $1800. I felt like they were trying to rip me off so I called A+ and told them this and that I wanted to pay the $385 for work done and that I would have the car towed to another shop. The woman on the phone told me that I would have to talk to her manager, Jamie. He refused to listen when I told him that I just wanted to pay for the work done and get the car ready to be towed. After 10 minutes of arguing he became belligerent and told me that I would now have to pay $495, in cash, and that the car ""may or may not be ready to be towed by the weekend,"" and hung up on me. When I called back, the manager and the girl in the office refused to talk to me. The next day I tried to get a hold of the corporate office, which took until mid-afternoon. After further arguing with them, I was finally able to get them to call the shop that the car was at and tell them to get the car down to be towed and that I only owe the $385. It was the most ridiculous, frustrating experience I have ever had with a repair shop. They are absolutely a bunch of criminals who tried to overcharge me and held the car hostage for 3 days. DO NOT go here or they WILL TRY TO RIP YOU OFF. more

I just had my Tahoe repaired at the Bellaire shop last month and it is driving great. I think they even replaced some mounts or something because it doesn more

Good overall repair shop. Dropped my impala off to get some transmission work done at the beginning of summer and wanted to wait a few months to see how it held up, I haven more

I HAD A GOOD EXPERIENCE. I went to the Ford dealer to get my 100000 mile service and they wanted to charge me around $180 just for the transmission flush and filter change. I was reading online and found A Plus Transmission. They continuously run specials from month to month I have been seeing. I have a 2005 Ford Expedition that I do the required maintenance on almost religiously. A plus did the fluid and filter change for $19.95. It took about an hour longer than they said because they do a pretty thorough inspection beforehand and even helped me diagnose why my check engine light had been coming on and off. Overall I had a good experience and you cannot beet the price anywhere. They definitely earned my business, not only because of their professionalism but I cannot afford dealer prices these days. Nice facility with a good staff. I appreciate the small things when it comes to customer service and the manager getting one of the technicians to go out of their way to bring me back to work after I dropped my car off at 8am in the morning was much appreciated. I deal mainly with Mark at Volvo's Only to do repairs on my Volvo but apparently not to many people want or know how to work on the transmissions for them. They came highly recommended by several other general automotive shops in the area. I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied with the repairs and the professionalism of their staff. I must say, I have been to several repair shops over the years and I have never received such excellent customer service as I did at a+ transmission. The manager, I think Marshall is his name, made sure I knew what was going on and kept me updated step by step. No one likes having to pay for car repairs, but it happens, and a+ made it eaiser for me than I expected. I was given a loaner car and they towed my car for free. My car is now working perfect thanks to A+! \r more

I brought my car to A Plus Transmission Specialists on Bellaire recently to have my transmission looked at and fixed and the customer service was truly exceptional. As a young lady I dread going into auto repair shops because of how I have been taken advantage of and ripped off in the past. Not at A Plus Transmission though, I was pleasantly suprised at how well I was treated and how informative and patient the manager, Marshall, was with me in explaining the issue with my car to where I fully understood what I was paying for (I admit my knowledge on cars is minimal). He also kept me posted on the progress of repairs to my car and kept me informed on cost of everything necessary to fix it so there was absolutely no suprise whatsoever when it came time to pay, which is quite refreshing. Repairs on your car are rarely ever cheap, especially dealing with transmission issues, but they are more willing to work with you than any other place I've been to and seem to be a company that holds its customer's satisfaction to the highest importance. They truly are specialists and I recommend them to anyone who needs their services, I wouldn't go to any other place myself! more

T hey will over charge you for parts and labor and will not prove what parts they use or allow you to see how much they cost. They charged 1 hr labor to put in fluid and 1 hr labor for a gasket and thats about $200. Also if you ask what parts you need and shop arround for pricing they charge almost 4 times more that the auto part stores. They suck and will smoth talk you in to being ripped off. Ask for everything in writting before you allow them to work on your vehicle and if they claimed they have started without your aproval report them to the BBB! more

Buyer beware! They will tell you that thay will check out your vehicle then once they break it down they will start the work without the owners approval then charge and outrages amount for repairs. They claim they use oem parts thats why its so high but they will not prove it. Also the labor cost is extremely high. please ask for everything in writing before you allow them to touch your vehicle! more

I brought my 2003 explorer in because it was starting to hesitate in between gears. A friend told me about this shop because she owns a business and uses A+ Transmission off of Bellaire in Houston to maintain her fleet vehicles. \r \r When i first brought it in they did a few tests and made a few adjustments over a few hours *at no charge* and told me to drive around to see if it improved over the next few days. It was good for a few days then slowly started hesitating again. I was surprised they did all that for me, Its rare for people to go out of their way to help these days.\r \r I brought it back and had them inspect the inside of the transmission to see what could be causing the problem. Turned out it was an issue with the pump or something and they cleaned it out for me and added new fluid and a new filter...problem solved! \r \r I cant believe 3 other shops I talked to were trying to get me to replace the whole transmission. \r \r I believe the guys i was talking to at A+ Transmission were Marshall and Jaime. Never again. A Plus Transmission on Hwy 6 charged me 1400 dollars to rebuild my transmission. After completion they had to take it back out and do it again, they had my truck for one week. The additude has changed drastically when I called a month after picking up the vehicle the transmission has totally locked up. After 3 attempts I knew the technicans had no idea what they were doing. The 3 year 36000 mile warrenty is a joke, they only give you 1 year, 12000 miles. After 12000 miles the transmission was still messed up, I stopped by, they had the vehicle for 3 days then I stopped by to find that nothing has been done. They offered to rebuild the transmisison for another 1400 dollars, because 12000 is up. I uninstalled the transmission myself, went to ford to by a remanufactred, installed it myself and found they ripped my radiator support back and destroyed it and knock sensor was broken off. This company is doing more harm then good. AVOID, BOYCOTT, PLEASE PASS THIS MESSAGE more

I felt like i was treated with respect and courtesy at a plus. I went in to have my 02 VW looked at, because my mechanic told me that my transmission was starting to have problems. They checked my car and it was free and the dealer wanted an arm and a leg just to look at it.. They checked my car and found that a had a bad sensor causing my car to act up. After the technician replaced the sensor my car was like new again i was so relived. I am very grateful for the quick and easy repair, i know that car repairs are pricey these days but these guys knew what they were doing and i felt like i got an honest and fair estimate. i would definitely go there next time. more

I had a great experince at this shop. Their coatumer service was great from start to finish. \r \r I took my 06 ford taurus in for a fluid change. I didn't have an appointment, but I walked in and the managers made it their bussiness to make time for me. I was in and out with in an hour. It was a pleasant experience at this shop and the transmission fluid change for $10 you can beat that. \r \r I felt like I was well taken care of and I knew that my car was in good hands at A Plus. more

I went to the shop to change clutch of a 2001 VW jetta, The manager, Chris, Agrred to replace the part I had bought, after inspecting the part. \r But after dismatling the transmission he said the part is not compatible and demanded adamently to buy a part from him for 2000$, because he thought \r I ll pay up since he has dismantled the car. The car itself is of lesser value. \r He practically scared me to pay up the labour without even fixing the part. Nobody ever behaved so mean to me like the Manager there. \r I got the same part fixed by another mechanic(ironically same name but different shop alltogether A+ auto Bissonet) who charged me 80$ less and gave a free tire rotation. \r \r The mechanic was good but the manager Chris was bad and didnt no a thing about manual shift and is surely under qualified. \r \r 1 star because its mandatory by this post.\r more

My 2004 Ford F-150 broke down on the hwy 59 and left me stranded, by luck I called Aplus on Kirby and spoke to Jamie, who was curtious and very helpful in getting my truck towed to his shop. Thier techs check my truck for free, and the manager recommended the proper repairs. Not only did they fix it right but they also only took two days, AMAZING !!! Never felt better about a repair I would recommend this shop to everyone Pros: Good service Friendly help very honest Cons: major repairs never come at a good time more

Price to get my car back and put together cost was $500.00 with no assurance that the car would run off the lot. (After talking and working at a deal from $1,300.00 for a transmission re-build repair to $995.oo with a payment plan) \r \r What bothers me about the whole issue, that this business had me in the hole since the first day I walk into the business, rebuild my transmission when not needed because of a simple leak, and was told to put my transmission back together with not assurance that the car was going to run for $500.00, then fix into no other option but to get a transmission rebuild repair. (Not to mention the lost few hours and money at work within the 6 business because of no main transportation, the bus ride from work to home was a 2 hour trip each way) They guys rob me big time.\r \r Please investigation is need for business like these?
