This place is pretty and played good music last Saturday night. Those are the only good things to say about it. I have never paid so much for drinks before at a mediocre place. I ...

The hottest place in nyc! 12/4/2007

I recently had an event here , the best company party ever!!! The staff was extremely outstanding. The food was delicious, and my office won't stop talking about the great times that were had by all. Pros: swanky , trendy atmosphere Cons: unisex bathroom more

Perfect Private Party Space 11/29/2007

I recently had a private party for 100 people at 49 Grove couldn't have been more pleased with how the evening turned out. The club was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Prior to the party the event staff worked closely with me to ensure I had everything I needed. The DJ called beforehand to chat about what kind of music we wanted. The night of the event the door/entrance was well-managed and efficient (no standing outside in the cold), the drinks and service were fast (the bartenders happily poured our very own specialty/custom cocktails), and the GM was constantly checking up on everything. The place looks great -- very sleek decor with candles on the tables and stems of orchids placed as accents. It was a very well run, organized party. I had a blast knowing that I could just sit back and enjoy the evening without having to worry. I'd recommend 49 Grove as an event space without hesitation. They're detail oriented and focused on making your private party perfect. Pros: Excellent service, Chic decor Cons: None more

Def give it a try 11/14/2007

I went here for a friends birthday and we had a great time. No wait at the door, and we were escorted right in to our table. Doorpeople and staff were very pleasant. Waitress was very attentive. The music was GREAT! (hip-hop/dance) Music you can dance to all night long. The crowd seemed to be lacking some good looking people though. Overall, it was very fun. Pros: great service, great music Cons: not so good looking crowd more

partying in your parent's basement 11/5/2007

its a long staircase to a low ceiling area. there are couches on the perimeter. it reminds me of high school parties in friend's basements. There is lil room to actually dance. Its a very chill place. There's only one bar when you first walk in. And everyone is with their "clique" in a section of their booths/couches. Very nice if you want an intimate gathering of friends Pros: small intimate space Cons: not good to meet people more

Birthday Fiasco 11/3/2007

First and foremost, I was promised a "large" room in the back for my "large" birthday party. Instead I was given a mere table despite the eight quite extravagant bottles I purchased for the evening. I should have realized the foreshadowing upon entering the velvet rope entrance that rejected my punctual guests and myself at 10 PM. (I was told to patiently wait another 20 minutes despite being told that the doors do open at 10 prior). Another noteworthy mishap was the shifting of parties from the small table to another common large room by a supposed larger party more worthy of this space. Additionally, each expensive bottle was consumed by other infiltrating people present in the vicinity. There was obviously no favor given to the large business brought to them by my event. Little did I know that such an affair would require a legally binding contract to adhere to basic principles. An extreme disservice. I leave you with my utter disgust. Pros: Ambience Cons: Service more

Avoid!!!! 11/3/2007

A few friends and I tried to have a birthday celebration here this past Saturday. Due to the rude bouncer and the insistance by management that we HAD to buy a bottle in order for our guy friends to get in (there were only about 10 people at the lounge) we moved the party else where. We promptly got there at 10 but was informed the staff has not yet arrived. Not a great experience and I would not recommend it. more

Thursday Night Review - NYU Crowd on a Cruise Ship or in a Country Club 10/7/2007

I'm always hesitant to write a review about a place I've only been once, but just a few comments beyond the other reviews - went there on a Thursday night with a buddy - around midnight - had to lie to get past the bouncer from the short line. The picture makes it look way cooler than it is - imagine it being much lighter, the ceilings very low, and all in all, felt like a mix of being in a the cabin of a cruise ship or in some part of a country club. The crowd was attractive but very young...I would say no one appeared over 24, and generally averaging 21, so there were some fakie's in the mix. It was a good percentage of women - at least 50%, but many were with their fraternity or dorm room boyfriends. Music was fun - trash pop hip hop. Drinks seemed to be a reasonable price - all in all, won't be going back soon, but if I do and it's different, I'll be sure to update. Pros: Music, Good Looking Crowd Cons: Very Young Crowd, Not worth Door Drama more

The best Bday Party 9/30/2007

Went to 49 grove for my bday with my girlfriends and we had such a great time! The staff was so nice and very accommodating, we had a table in the back and it was perfect. They played awesome music, a lot of hip hop. Bottle selection was great, actually everything was! Couldn't have asked for a better experience! I would reccomend getting a table and having a party there to everyone! LOVE IT! Pros: Great Staff, Bottles, Music, just all around awesome! more

best spot in the Village 9/26/2007

Had my birthday party at 49 grove this year and had an absolute blast! The decor and ambiance are amazing and the staff was great to everyone. Their prices are competitive with other nice establishments in the city and the crowd is much better than the touristy, crowded Village hang-outs. For fun almost any night of the week there is nowhere better to live it up in a great space, crowd, and environment with awesome people! Pros: Great crowd, space, and bottle service Cons: Cocktail list more

damn good time!!! 9/25/2007

Had a great time here a last weekend. Place was an absolute blast. It is somewhat exclusive but it makes for a much better scene inside, good looking people, great vibe, great music. Screw you meatpacking!!! This place is more fun with less hassle and a better crowd. more

great customer service and amazing design 9/23/2007

Love, love, love it! Once inside 49 Grove the dollars spent are well worth it for an entertaining and exclusive night out. On a street with "of the moment" clubs which always seem to disappoint me, it is a welcomed exception. The waitresses are hot , the drinks -delectable, and the music can get anyone up and on their feet. 49 Grove is just large enough without being too big, and the bathrooms are always clean. The service you recieve is worth every penny. I will continue to be a regular at 49 Grove for a long time to come. Pros: ambience, service, music Cons: n/a more

skip it 9/21/2007

49 grove is way too overrated, despite the many other negative comments I've seen posted here. Always trying to reinvent itself, 49 grove is bound to change its name and decor soon. Mainly because the place is full of wannabes who wear their "Dior" shades indoors. If that's impressive for you, go for it... But if you don't like that kind of crowd, you may want to skip it. The decor isn't even nice to begin with...carpet floors and similar "couches". The music is never that good either. All the times I've been there they played some old school rap that is almost undancable to...WHY!?!? I feel like there are many other places that can provide a much more pleasant time, so why go here? Pros: easy to get to? Cons: expensive drinks, ugly decor, not special at all. more

Some of the better looking people I've been around 9/18/2007

Being a seasoned New York City nightlife veteran I thought I've done and seen it all and boy was I mistaken. Not only was I mesmerized by the crowd and employees, who once inside catered to our every need, but we were able to actually enjoy the music being played. Many times at these high scale celebrity saturated lounges, the music tends to take a back seat to other accomodations and Grove literally didn't miss a beat. Loved the set, the setup, and "the females." Definitely excited to go back. See you soon Grove, keep doing your thing. Pros: Hottness all around you... Cons: Don't be intimidated if Eva Mendez bumps into you more

Classy place, gorgeous crowd! 9/17/2007

Amidst the ever admired NYC nightlife, stands a popular hot spot, 49 Grove. Located in the heart of the west village, between Christopher Street and 7th Ave., 49 Grove is a trendy and upscale lounge which caters to the hottest crowd in New York City. Once you get passed the velvet ropes and make your way inside, you can?t help but notice the elegant blue decor and romantic dim lights; along with plenty of deco couches and tables which leave just enough room for a comfortable dance floor. The music gratifies all guests, in the company of a resident DJ spinning the latest hits of hip hop, house and R&B, and the crowd is constantly full of energy on the dance floor. The bartenders and waitresses are gorgeous; the crowd is always stunning, what?s not to love? If you?re looking for a great night out in NYC, 49 Grove is the best place to be! Pros: Beautiful crowd, Beautiful decor, Great service, Very Trendy, Friendly and sweet bathroom attendant, Good music Cons: Main staircase is too steep for my stilletos more

Hottset spot I've been to in a long time! 9/16/2007

I'm what you might consider a "club connoisseur". I've been in almost every hot club or lounge in NY at least once. But i recently checked out 49 Grove and I must say the spot was one of the better places I've partied at. In my line of work i'm invited to a lot of A-list events and this place defientley had the feel of one of those exclusive nights. The service was great, the women were extra hot, and the sound system was on point. I had a great time and would highly reccomend it to anyone of age who enjoys the high life! TPBigBeatz Platinum Recording Engineer Pros: nice the way the place was setup Cons: bathroom line (as with any place) more

A long time ago i use to frequent the parties at club suede every tuesday and sunday night.... I have never found another club that compared until 49 grove... it has everything you need.... its chill, cozy and relaxed; while at the same time being trendy, high energy and sophisticated... It's a great place just to kick it or sometimes celebrity watch... I remember when I ran into lindesy lohan in the bathroom... CRAZY... and the female bartender makes the best Lemon Drop Martini in all of Manhattan Pros: MUSIC, CROWD, DRINKS, SERVICE, PRIVATE ROOMS Cons: THE STAIRS more
