We have been using 42nd Street Photo since we lived in New York years ago. We've always had good service and good products. We just ordered a new gps-enabled camera - got a great price and received it in just a few days. more

It was good, everything went well. They called me back about a warranty very fast but i feel was a bit sketchy on the price. more

My father-in-law purchased a Canon Rebel T4i DSLR camera for me from 42nd Street Photo. I asked him about his experience on the ordering side and he said that his experience was great and that the online form was easy. He said they were very responsive when he realized he gave them my old address and he called to correct it. It arrived at my new address exactly when it was supposed to, in perfect condition and they even threw in a lens and screen cleaning kit that we weren't expecting. more

One should not do business with 42 Photo on 378 5th Ave in New York. Below details my purchase experience with a Canon EOS 7D in November 2012. 42 Photo hard a good price for the EOS 7D body, and I also purchased a few other accessories – that were ultimately changed in my order without authorization. • On 11/5 -- Ordered Canon Digital Camera BODY online, advertised as brand-new, USA warranty along with two batteries and memory card. • On 11/6 -- Sales person called and attempted to change order and give me "better" memory card. I said I would cancel everything but the camera. Sales person said he cannot remove items from an order. I stated I did not want upgraded/better memory card. • On 11/6 -- After conversation, I checked order online; it had been changed and my credit card was charged an additional $130 beyond the original order. A "better" memory CF was added; and the credit card was charged without authorization. • On 11/6 -- Called 42 Photo back. Sales person said "order had shipped" and "nothing could be done." The product "could be returned" if I was not satisfied. • On 11/12 -- Received product. Camera was not in original packaging and did not include warranty/registration card as printed from Canon. • On 11/13 -- Left voice mail for sales person and was transferred to "customer service" where phone kept ringing. • On 11/14 -- Got in touch with Sales person and offered to return two batteries and memory card; also explained concern about Camera Body in opened packaging and a lack of warranty card. Sales person said I would need to send them a money order for $95 in order to return the memory card and batteries. I refused to send $ to return a product and asked Sales person to refund credit card and that I would seek reimbursement through additional customer channels. That was not agreeable to 42nd St photo, even with perceived theft by deception and product diversion. Buyer beware. more

I was searching for a good price for this camera. I compared the price on many websites and found the best price on Google Shopping. I am new in the States and haven't heard of 42nd Street Photo until last week. I was looking for a silver camera but it was very hard to find and even if you were able to find, they were overpriced. 42nd Street Photo beat Amazon and others on price. They called me the day after I placed my order to confirm my details. I was expecting my camera in 10 days but arrived in 6 days in perfect condition. I had amazing experience with 42nd Street Photo. I went online to look for a replacement Panasonic Lumix Camera for my wife. She had a Lumix DMC-TZ3 and now has a DMC-ZS8 which I purchased from 42nd Street Photo. Why? Because they offer great brand new merchandise at better than average prices, and they ship extremely quickly. The camera is perfect, works perfectly, and she is more than pleased. If you go visiting the website, it is easy to navigate and very detailed in it's explanation of it's product. Maybe too detailed, but then again I am not a camera expert so the experts would appreciate this site more than I. But then again you can learn a lot from the detailed information from each individual camera, lens or what-have-you. This is really a no brainer: If you need camera equipment you need to come to 42nd Street Photo because they do offer great prices, service, and did I already mention that they ship quickly? I was quite hestitant to buy SLR camera online from an unknown name like 42nd street photo and rather preferred buying from a store like B&H or Bestbuy. Even my friends did gave me advice to stay away from online stores which are not heard of as they sell grey market products and customer service is really bad. But to my surprise the quality of product i recieved from this store was really good, service was excellenet, they called me to confirm the order and tentative shipping date. It was shipped and delivered really fast. i would recommend this store.. keep it up guys... more
