Wow! 1515 was both elegant and quite possibly the best food in Denver. You know the kind of dinning experience you tell your buddies about for the next few weeks. In addition the ...

Excellent Food, Tired Feeling Scene 3/21/2006

Amy and I took my folks to 1515 on Saturday night. We showed up at 6pm. The bar was empty. The upstairs - where the restaurant is - was about half full and dominated by a big party. The big party came in just before us so the service was a little erratic (pacing was off), but it was understandable. The food was excellent. It was typical "fancy American cuisine", but fun flavors with great sides. I had a vegetable dish - always a good test of a chef - and he delivered nicely. The chocolate mousse dessert was outstanding. So - food=very good. service=ok. However, at 8pm we were the last people in the restaurant. There appeared to be no second seating and - as we left - Amy commented that this feels like a place that won't last that much longer. If that's the case, it's too bad - the food is very good. more

Best Hamburger EVER!!! 8/19/2005

I cannot honestly comment on the menu for the restaurant, because I have only have the Kobe burger I go. Why you might ask do I limit myself to this one item. Well, I was tipped off by the Rocky Mountain News that it was the best hamburger in town, and they weren't lying. The beef, referred to as Kobe beef which originated in Japan, comes from cows that are fed beer mash and massaged on a daily basis. The belief is that happy mellow cows make for good beef, and I can tell by eating it that they must have been the most joyous cows on the planet. The burger should be eaten rare to med-rare with nothing added. Put the ketchup and mustard down!!! Try the fried potato salad for one of the sides, it is excellent, along with the strawberry vinaigrette salad. Also of note is the fact that upstairs is for fine dining and romantic outtings and that downstairs every weekend they feature live music. more
