Businiess name:  Holmesburg Plaza Vac & Sew
Review by:  Harold M.
Review content:
Around February 23, my 95 year old mother delivered her Hoover vacuum cleaner, I mailed you a check for the repair, February 27. When my sister checked a week or so later, the employee at the store stated that he was waiting for a part and would call as soon as it is repaired. After a week, my sister received a call to pick up the repaired vacuum. She returned with the repaired only to find that nothing had changed. It was still not working properly. She returned it to Holmesburg Plaza Vac & Sew. During one of my visits to Philadelphia, I visited the store, hoping that the Hoover vacuum had been repaired so that I could return it to my mother’s house. The young man there informed that he was waiting a part to arrive and apologized for the confusion regarding the vacuum. He said that he would call as soon as the part arrived and he installed in the vacuum. When my sister picked up the vacuum for the second time, she was given a refurbished vacuum. My sister was told that the Hoover had a burned out motor. However, the refurbished vacuum didn’t work either. Because five different people had visited the store to pick up the allegedly repaired vacuum, I said to the employee what I wanted at this point. I requested he apply the repair price paid $74.89 toward the purchase of a new vacuum. He gave me a price of Hoover U5140 for $106.99 minus repair price paid $74.89, resulting in my owning Holmesburg Plaza $32.10. While on the telephone, I checked the Internet for a price for this same model number and found your price nearly $40 more. When I shared this with the store employee, he said: “We have the best models in our store.” Not the answer I wanted to hear. In light of all that has happened and the amount of time wasted, I requested that Holmesburg Plaza Vac & Sew return the $74.89 promptly. As of date, I have received neither a check, nor a call or response to my certified letters, nor the Hoover vacuum which is still at Holmesburg Plaza Vac & Sew
