Trying to get in on the Cash for Clunkers deal, my husband called Keith Hawthorne Hyundai to see if they had any 2009 Sonatas left. He spoke to Tiffany, who told him they had several on the lot. He asked if they were still doing the Clunkers deal, and she said yes, and to come on down. He told her we were coming from Aiken (3 hours away), and she said she would see us in a few hours. I got off of work early so I could go with him. When we arrived, we couldn't find the 2009's anywhere. We went inside to ask for Tiffany, and were told to wait. After 15 minutes with no help, we approached a nearby free salesman. He asked if we were going to do the Clunkers deal, then asked what we were trading in. He wrote it all down & went in the back to get Tiffany. She came out and said she was busy, but that someone else would be helping us. Then the sales manager (Mark?) came out and told us they were no longer doing the Clunkers deals. HUH? We told him that Tiffany told us they were, and all he could say was that he didnt' know who we had spoken to. Either he is hard of hearing, or he has a learning disability. Then he started giving us some grief about how the gov't wasn't paying him back for the cars. Wah wah wah - not my problem. Why you would make someone drive for 3 hours just to tell them the deal they wanted is off is beyond me. Did you think that would build good customer rapport? No apologies from this dealer. The only thing that was sorry was the service. I'm glad I didn't buy a car from them - I can't imagine what service after the sale is like if this is how they treat prospective clients. Run far away from this dealership! Pros: Absolutely Nothing! Cons: Unapologetic, rude liars
