I have been a student at this dojo for a few years now, and I love training here. Let me tell you why!\r \r I love karate… I love the tradition. I love the discipline it teaches. I love putting on the gi (or uniform) and stepping out onto the dojo floor and just getting my body in motion without having to feel like a hamster on a wheel in a gym somewhere. I love seeing my friends… my karate family, and knowing that I am safe in their hands while I learn and practice not only traditional karate techniques, but self-defense techniques as well. Adults and Children train in separate classes, which is another thing that I like. In fact, some of the young adults in class who have just gone off to college have been training at this school since they were young children. It was fun to see them transition from the children’s class to the adult class, and grow in their karate.\r \r Here at Okinawan Karate, we are a family. We learn, and grow together and yet, we are each at our own pace and at our own place with our karate, and that’s one of the reasons I love this school. You could not ask for better teachers than Sensei’s Rob and Laura. They believe that all good sensei have sensei, and they train every week with their own sensei. They are committed to their karate, to their students and to “making friends with karate”. If you’ve ever had a desire to train in karate, or you have a child that wants to learn, come check out Okinawan Karate of Clawson… you won’t be disappointed. As for me, I’ll never go anyplace else!
