Be smart, NEVER, EVER even go into Puppy Palace in Buffalo Grove. The store just wanted to make me cry, I don't understand why people like this are in business. \r \r Where do I start; I went into the store to look for a new pet, but ended up walking into a nightmare. I have had pets all of my life and know a lot about animals. This store is dirty and none of the kids that work there care. \r \r It is a family run store and the owner's snotty little kids (who I assume are the owner's kids because they called her mom) were running around with the dogs and bumped into me at one point and told me to get out of the way. \r \r I started with the kittens, they are all stuffed in a room that can only be seen from the street and they were all picking on each other and fighting. They looked like they were all different ages and the little ones were so skinny because they older cats were pushing them around and stressing them out. \r \r Then the birds and small animals; the bird's water was brown and looked like it had not be changed in days. Their papers were dirty and the large parrot that was there was shoved into a cage that was about half the size it should be. The small animal's bedding was 3 different colors which shows that all the employees do is add more bedding instead of cleaning it. There were also cages with 2 different types of poop in it which implies they did not bother to change the bedding fully before putting a new animal in that tank. The Chinchilla had an open dish of water and not a water bottle, this is bad because water burns their skin (that is why they take dust baths, not baths with soap and water). \r \r Then I moved onto fish and reptiles; I found a frog skeleton in a tank, a lizard that had no food or water, and the fish tanks were green, I have no idea if fish were even in the tanks or not because there was so much filth. \r \r Finally, those poor dogs. Some were so thin you could see their ribcage, others had green goo coming out of their eyes, and I noticed one with a rash on its skin that looked like it had been bleeding (it was pink and crusty). In the 40 minutes I was in that store, no one asked me if I wanted help which I thought was weird. I am in my mid 20's but I look young, so they must have thought I was some kid who wasn't about to make a purchase. I noticed another woman inquire about a dog. The girl that helped her said she would go check on the price and walked in the back. She came out with the dog and a little list that had a bunch of prices on it. They priced this little designer mutt at $2,400 dollars. The lady held it for a few minutes and gave it back saying that she was concerned with the way the puppy was coughing and breathing (labored). The employee did nothing to check on the dog, she just put it back in its cage. \r \r This shows me how much this store doesn't care. Animals are inventory to them, that's all. Don't let these types of stores stay in business, please adopt from a shelter or go to a reputable breeder. If you are going to spend $2,400 on a dog, it better be a pedigree, not a sick puppy mill puppy. This lady probably gets her dogs out of a van in some back alley somewhere.\r \r Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything
