I went to Ted Wiens in August 2009 just to get an oil change. They came back with an evaluation sheet for all the things ""wrong"" with my car. On this sheet they stated, among several other things, that my car had a dirty air filter, burnt transmission fluid, a ""severely cracked"" back tire and a broken brake light.
First of all, I had my transmission fluid flushed just 4 months earlier. When my cousin, a mechanic, looked at it, he said my transmission fluid was fresh, pink and clean. Then he showed me the air filter, which had also been changed 4 months earlier and it was BRIGHT WHITE. I went to Walmart about my tires and they said there was absolutely NO severe cracking on any of my tires and if anything it was the front two tires, not the rear tire, that needed to be changed. Additionally, absolutely nothing was wrong with my brake light.
STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS! They are crooks! Just get your oil change and tell them to take a hike with their stupid ""evaluation form"". They recommended over $1500.00 worth of work to me and misrepresented the condition of my car COMPLETELY. I bought the belts for $20.00, had my cousin change them for me, got two new tires from Walmart for $100.00 and I was GOOD TO GO.
These guys should have their business license revoked for being criminals and thieves. They should be ashamed of themselves. They are a disgrace to the general auto repair industry and give all mechanics a horrible name.
Pros: That I didn't actually get anything other than an oil change
Cons: They lied lied lied about things I needed to get fixed!!
