Review content:
We've lived on Pensacola Beach for over a decade, but this was our first trip to Jackson's- their offerings at the WSRE charity event lured us in. We were celebrating my husbands birthday. For a Friday night at prime dining hour, it was half empty, to our surprise - so service was no problem. We travel a lot and have been to restaurants all over the country - well, all over the world - and there's no question, Jackson's is world class. The appetizers were exciting and tasty, and no complaints about quantity. There were plenty of interesting choices. My Osso Bucho was great comfort food, with plenty of it and great taste. My husband made the mistake of not pricing out the special - a veal chop - before ordering and felt a little stung by the $48 price tag - it was good, but probably not that good. When the server offered a birthday creme brulee, we assumed he was truly offering it like most restaurants do for birthdays - and that added on the tab stung a little too - though it was good also. We know expensive. Jackson's makes Morton's and Fleming's Steakhouse's feel like a bargain. It is truly pricey, especially the appetizers. We appreciate that Pensacola has a good special occasion restaurant, but thats probably the only time we'll go there. The Global Grill and Fish House would be just as good of choices, and probably a little kinder to the pocketbook. Pros: Exciting food Cons: High price tag on appetizers, atmosphere a little cold.
