Review content:
My husband and I stayed in the Lamb's Rest Inn for a weekend, as he would be running the San Antonio Marathon on Sunday. The B&B is very neat and well-kept with pretty decor; however, we experienced a few drawbacks. The owners were out of the country during our stay, so we were informed that breakfast would not be formal, but rather more like a continental breakfast at a hotel. This would have been fine with us, except that the ""continental breakfast"" was literally pre-packaged muffins, yogurt, and cereal. I thought since we were paying the SAME price as any normal night when the owners are present, we would at least have a buffet of some sort for a warm meal, but that was not the case. We were surprised they did not choose to have the breakfasts catered during their vacation, or at least reduce their prices to accommodate for the lack of breakfast. The bed was also very hard, which made for a less-than-restful sleep (sheets, blankets, and pillows were all wonderful, but the mattress itself was very hard -- even for my husband, who likes firm beds). Our room had a jacuzzi tub, which was quite nice, but there was no bubble bath provided, making it less relaxing than it could have been. And, finally, the B&B's policy is that they do not clean your room unless you specifically request it. You are supposed to find this out by reading the Policies sheet left on your dresser in your room. Then, you have to fill out a request card and leave it on the table in the foyer by 9am in order for you room to be cleaned. We obviously didn't realize what the ""policy"" was, and came back in the evening to an unmade bed, no more facial tissues, and dirty towels. While I respect policies, this one seems backwards to me -- isn't one of the perks of staying in a B&B that you get to enjoy a clean, beautiful room you don't have to care for yourself? The policy should be that if you DON'T want your room cleaned, you have to request it. In all, our stay was okay, but not great. Pros: Nice decor, clean. Cons: No warm breakfast, poor room-cleaning policy.
