Review content:
My mother had purchased a brand new Oreck vacuum in her hometown in GA just before she moved here to NC. I saw her unwrap the attachments; everything was brand new. The first time she plugged the vacuum in nothing happened. She called the store in GA where she bought it, and the guy said she could bring it back to him and he'd replace it, or she could take it to a local place in NC. So my brother took her to the store in Asheville, but they would not replace it, but would have their repair person check it on Saturday when he came in. Today we stopped by the store to see if the vacuum was ready. The woman who was assisting us went in the back and said no, it was not ready, and that there were 12 other vacuums to be fixed ahead of hers, but the repairman had agreed to come in Monday and work so it might be ready then. My mother mentioned that the guy in GA she bought it from had offered to replace it. The clerk said, ""I don't care what the man in GA said, you aren't dealing with him now, you are dealing with us, and I am not going to replace that vacuum, it's old, it's been pieced together from various vacuums"". I was shocked at the way she spoke to my mother, so shocked I just stood there slack jawed looking at her. Mother explained that she'd bought it new, and the woman interrupted her and said something about it being reconditioned, and then, ""And like I told you there are 12 others ahead of yours and you're just going to have to wait your turn"". My mother, not wanting to cause a scene, looked at me and asked what I thought she should do, and I told her to get her vacuum and I would take it to GA if need be. I almost went back in the store to ask if this woman was the manager, but I was so pissed I wouldn't go back in there, because I knew I would cause a huge scene. So I'll just write reviews everywhere I can telling people how my mother - a woman in her late 70s - was talked to in this store. She should have been treated with respect, even if they didn't want to replace the brand new vacuum. DON'T SHOP HERE!
