Review content:
We recently dined for the first time at the Mellow Mushroom after a great day at the museums. We had a party of 11 so we had made reservations in advance. We were seated a few minutes after arriving and we were beginning to enjoy our beverages and appetizers. When our food came we dove right in to the pizza which was delicious until we had our horrific incident. One person had ordered soup and salad and was not given a spoon. No big deal as the person who had helped deliver the food, quickly went to the back to get one for her. In the meantime, we look at an employee behind the cash register who was cleaning a spoon with his raised tshirt (we saw his hairy belly button!!!!!!). When I say cleaning, I mean rubbing the spoon back and forth like he was polishing the spoon. This employee was sweaty, dirty, and oblivious to what he was doing as he chatted it up with another employee. We shouted in horror "NO" when he tried to hand our friend this tshirt cleaned spoon. We told him you can not do that and that it was not right. His response? "My bad...." What kind of response is that? A woman came over, who was later introduced as the owner, and said to us "he said he was sorry. Is there anything else you want to say to me about it?" First of all, there was never an apology for this gross behaviour and second of all, she should never defend this type of behaviour in her restuarant. She was rude to us in every way possible. We will never return to this restuarant. If you still choose to eat at this establishment, do not guarantee that your food or silverware was handled safely.
