The Hobby Shop 7/22/2005

This is what a hobby shop should be. The Hobby Shop is a mecca in a state known for its woeful lack of hobby shops. In the Midwest large hobby shops can be found out in the open in malls and other large shopping areas. But in New Jersey they are often relegated to dilapidated strip malls. Not The Hobby Shop. It is 7000 square feet of pure hobby-goodness. Whether you are into rockets, planes, trains or automobiles The Hobby Shop has everything you need. And you can expect to hear the roar of R/C engines when you walk in the door, which leads me to believe the staff is more than happy to help if you have a problem (I have never tried to bring anything in myself though). In short, if you live in the area or are ever driving up the Parkway through Eastern central New Jersey, The Hobby Shop is worth a visit. A word of caution: the address is Aberdeen, NJ, but so far as I can tell it is basically Matawan. Don't even try finding it on Mapquest, you will be led far far astray. Just pretend it's Matawan and you'll be fine. The good news is it's only about a ten minute drive off the Parkway (Exit 117 I believe, but don't trust me on that). more
