Nuanced and Balanced Thai Cusine 10/31/2006

The sauces here are very nuanced and flavourful. I agree with the previous review the sauces are light and balanced, and the food preparation tastes very fresh. The vegetables are perfectly crisp. I've found the dishes are well-sized and balanced. I'd rate the kitchen quality control (or perhaps they don't need to QC) at 10 out of 10. The Food Quality is Superb. My favorites are the Golden Cashew Chicken, Rama Jungle Spinach with Tofu and The Crying Tiger. Also the Summer Roles are delicious and like "Spring rolls" at other places. The Spring rolls here are fried which is different from many places and I haven't tried them. Some of my friends have spoken highly of Evil Basil Noodles, and one friend swears by ordering this dish with Mixed seafood. He says it is Perfect. I have yet to try. I have eaten at Samui around 20 times and love the uniquely and exquisitely prepared selections. I've also gotten take out a few times and the food is equally delicious, though the portions seem a bit smaller. This place is quaint and somewhat romantic in an old Victorian house. And in the summer they have tables on their lovely deck complete with trees and fountains. The owner often hosts and sometimes serves food. I've always found the wait staff to be attentive and polite. The prices are extremely reasonable for this high quality food and most meals cost around $7- $8, though rice is extra. more
