Ayutthaya Thai restaurant is very good. Their variations on dishes can be a little different than other Thai restaurants, which can take a little getting used to if you have a certain 'taste' in mind, but I there menu is extensive I suggest trying something new here, you really can't go wrong. However, I usually get Green Curry with Chicken extra spicy and a Thai iced tea to wash it down out of craving/habit.
The quality is of the entrées is good and the prices are cheap. Many entrées are $7 and I usually get out of there for around 11 bucks (including tip and tax). I know this isn't amazing cheap for the U.Dist. but it's about as cheap as you can eat (besides at Subway or pho) on the Hill without skimping. The previous reviewed called this place "a hole in the wall" I wouldn't quite call it that (they have real wood paneling, oooh ooh!) but it is a diner-type atmosphere with the commercial "soft rock" radio station on for ambiance. For the high food quality and fresh and originally prepared dishes, I'm not surprised they are Zagat rated and decorated with many local food awards too.
Most of the dishes have a good balance of meat/veggies, but some of the dishes are meat or veggie only (as indicated by a lack of mention). Recently I tried number 35 (I forgot the name but it's chicken thighs marinated in a special sauce and wrapped in bamboo leaves) it was DELICIOUS! It is all meat with two dipping sauces, but the marinade is amazing. For desert, I tried the Black Rice Pudding which was made fresh and is served steaming hot with a blueberry sauce and coconut milk. It was very tasty, big enough for two.

One of my favorite Thai restaurants in Seattle. Nowadays, I actually prefer Thaiger room to Thai Tom's (after 7 years of Tom's being my favorite). I love how they cook the meat. It tastes incredible, it tastes like they marinate the meat perfectly and then heat it in such a way it seals in the flavour.
My favorites are the Pad See Ew with Beef and the Pad Kee Mao with Chicken. If you are with people, I suggest getting both and splitting them, they taste delicious in contrast to one another. The Pad See Ew's mellow sweetness goes well with the Pad Kee Mao's rich spice. I only order 2 stars here, though because it is VERY spicy and sometimes inconsistently spiced which can result in TOO spicy. (I used to get 3-4 stars at Thai Tom's).
The food is consistently good. However a few times (out of nearly 20 visits) I have gone the meat hasn't been quite as perfectly cooked. Still the food is so delicious I get weekly cravings!
Portions are generous. If I am starving I can eat the whole thing, but usually I take a snack home for later. Food quality is consistently good (but not great). Left-overs taste decently heated up the next day with no trouble for my light-constitution.
Rice is included and the prices are very reasonable around $7-9 for most meals.
Atmosphere is plain but fine. The noise can be a bit loud (mainly banging from kitchen) and tables are spaced closely (like many U.Dist. places) but I don't think twice about this since I'm here for the food!
Service is good, and fast, though attentiveness can vary a bit. Still with a small effort of flagging you can get someone's attention who is happy to help you.
I haven't had to wait more than 10 minutes, though the place is usually full.

The sauces here are very nuanced and flavourful. I agree with the previous review the sauces are light and balanced, and the food preparation tastes very fresh. The vegetables are perfectly crisp. I've found the dishes are well-sized and balanced. I'd rate the kitchen quality control (or perhaps they don't need to QC) at 10 out of 10. The Food Quality is Superb.
My favorites are the Golden Cashew Chicken, Rama Jungle Spinach with Tofu and The Crying Tiger. Also the Summer Roles are delicious and like "Spring rolls" at other places. The Spring rolls here are fried which is different from many places and I haven't tried them. Some of my friends have spoken highly of Evil Basil Noodles, and one friend swears by ordering this dish with Mixed seafood. He says it is Perfect. I have yet to try. I have eaten at Samui around 20 times and love the uniquely and exquisitely prepared selections. I've also gotten take out a few times and the food is equally delicious, though the portions seem a bit smaller.
This place is quaint and somewhat romantic in an old Victorian house. And in the summer they have tables on their lovely deck complete with trees and fountains.
The owner often hosts and sometimes serves food. I've always found the wait staff to be attentive and polite.
The prices are extremely reasonable for this high quality food and most meals cost around $7- $8, though rice is extra.

Jamjuree has a wonderful peanut sauce, which I was "addicted to" for several years. My tastes have changed somewhat and I moved and so I haven't been in about a year.
I went to Jamjuree about one-four times a month for two years. have found the service consistently pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere warm, comfortable and leisurely with a touch of elegance. The food was wonderful. The noodle dishes had a sort of "soft noodle" style (not as crisp or saucy as some places) which it's sort of it's own taste.
This was on-again off-again one of my local haunts. The food was very consistent, with only one mishap. One night my Phad Thai tasted TOTALLY different than usual, either they had a substitute chef or were experimenting with recipe. It tasted like something was missing and it made my mouth feel chalky. When I told the waiter he was very pleasant and my food was remade. It was much much better but still not level of taste as usual. On the other 30+ occasions I've been there the food has been delicious.
The food is somewhat health conscious with good vegetarian options which don't feel like something is missing. The dishes I've enjoyed have tasted very fresh and the vegetables are perfectly cooked.
Price is $1 or $2 above many Thai places, but still very reasonable (approx $8-$11). If you go with a small group, the atmosphere is worth it. They also have a full bar.

The food at Thaiku is delicious with a flair which is hard to beat. With regard to the food I feel Thaiku takes Thai cuisine to a new level. I highly recommend. I have ordered about 1/2 the dishes on their menu during my many visits and while some dishes are much more flavorful and original than others, I have yet to be disappointed.
Another reviewer mentions the fascinating appetizer with coconut, lime, peanuts, ginger, garlic and chilies which come in little bowls, you take dashes and bits of each and roll them in a giant basil leaf. I know this sounds random, but if you either like intense flavors, or enjoy any two of the spices in this dish you will be blown away. I also wonder how they get basil leaves so healthy and as large as the palm of my hand. This appetizer is one of my favorites, but you really need at least 2 (for most people 3+) people to enjoy this properly. In part because the flavors are intense and eating the entire thing yourself could very well be a bad idea.
The food is consistently delicious and while the kitchen isn't fast it is worth the wait.
The decor of Thaiku is really amazing too. High ceilings, wooden rustic feel with lots of interesting touches. Candles on the table and the back bar is quite interesting. Sometimes they have live jazz in the bar which is fun, but crampt.
The atmosphere is a bit loud if you are in the main room because it's large and seats many large groups. It can be a bit noisy. If you are on a quiet date, the smaller room is preferable.
The only thing about Thaiku which bothers me is the service is inconsistent and hasty. It seems like the wait staff are continually stressed out and sometimes even upset. If you are trying to get more water, or order another drink or even get the bill, you will see your wait staff rush by many times before you can get their attention. Usually one of us will have to ask the water boys to get our wait staff. It's not that the wait staff seems lazy, just extremely overworked. Many times we have had to wait 15+ minutes actively flagging our wait staff to get a drink or our check. Which needless to say is a pain.
Also to be mentioned is between 6-9 in the evening, there is almost always a wait. It can be as long as 1 hour, though the most we've waited is 20 minutes and it usually goes much quicker than estimated.
Overall, I LOVE Thaiku's delicious menu and drinks and it is one of my top 3 favorite Thai places! However, this is NOT the place to go if you need to finish by a certain time or if you are looking for quality service. If you can bother with that, the food IS Worth It!

I LOVE delicious Thai foods it is one of my favorite cuisines and I've been honing my taste on this regions mouthwatering selections for 25 years.
Thai 65 has an awesome interior, which feels like you are in film circa 1970. The lightening is perfect and the layout is nice.
I've only eaten here twice though because the food just isn't that tasty. If you are new to Thai food you might enjoy it more because I found the food to taste sort of a 'watered down' (i.e. Americanized). Frankly it reminded me of what "Thai" food might taste like if eaten at a dinner party of non-South-Asian family "experimenting with Thai flavours" out of a Betty Crocker Cookbook.
I didn't find the food taste "bad" but "very bland" and not really like Thai food. The flavours in both dishes I tried, didn't come together. Instead I tasted fried noodle, soybased sauce, vegetables, meat. None bad, but all very subdued (perhaps overcooked? or without spice) and not working together.
The Thai Iced tea was also not one worthy of many of Seattle's great Thai restaurant. It tasted like an off-balanced sugary mix, probably made from powder.
I can't remember if this place has a liquor license, if it does I would recommend this for it's atmosphere but not for the food.

Kwanjai Thai is in a cute little "hut" on 35th Ave in Fremont. I don't live in Fremont and often forget about this little gem when considering my options for Thai food. Of Seattle's many Thai places, Kwanjai falls in my top 10.
The atmosphere is relaxed, cute and simple. It is not fancy but it is very clean with plastic checkered table clothes and sometimes a candle. It is a bit like a interior picnic, but that said it has an authentic "we're here for the food" vibe.
I have tried many of their dishes over the years and have not been disappointed. Their Phad Thai is good though not as "fried with egg" as Thai Toms in the U.Dist. Recently though, I order the Green Curry every time I go because it is done so well. Perfect coconut sauce, I usually get it with chicken and a decent amount of vegetables.
The prices are VERY reasonable, most dishes are around $6- $8 with all being less than $11. Decent size portions, some hungry guys can finish it, but I have lunch or a snack to take home after. The food quality is high, and there is no residual "I don't feel so good" for those with less-than-perfect-constitutions. With the Green Curry I find the left overs are as good (if not better, after marinating in the sauce longer) the next day, with no quality issues.
Service is quick and efficient. The staff is attentive to refilling waters. The food comes out fast and fresh.
Kwanjai Thai is great for a fast delicious informal Thai meal. Perfect for a single person grabbing a bite or a quick dinner before rushing off to a concert/theater/show. If I lived in Fremont, you'd probably see me there once a week. :)
