So I'm not a health food nut, but living in Berkeley it kind of grows on you. And if you're trying to eat healthy, barring growing a massive garden, you're going to Berkeley Bowl. The prices are steep, but that's what you're paying for: better quality food. Most people will never know, or ever need to know the difference, the crowd there is pretty select. They do have an impressive array of cheeses, which always gets me, but if you shop there plan on being there for a long stay, the lines can get hefty and wrap around the entire store.
