Four Floors; Great Theatre; Overpriced Goods 7/7/2006

MacArthur Center is located in downtown Norfolk. You really can't miss it. It's huge. And it's right across the street from McArthur Center, which houses the tomb of its namesake, Gen. Douglas MacArthur. You'd expect a grand mall when it's named after a Medal of Honor recipient, and this one doesn't disappoint. It has four floors and a great cinema. Parking is in an underground garage so remember your level or you'll spend all night walking. (No, I did not spend all night walking - I was warned by my husband's business associate when we directed me there to kill a few hours.) You do have to pay for parking, another first for me. This mall has most of the big city stores - Nordstrom's, Dillard's, etc. I found most store to be very overpriced. Perhaps if you live in this area, these are normal prices. If so, I feel for you. Aside from the prices, this mall is a must for visitors from small towns like me. It gave me a heads up on what fashion is to come. Plus, I found a few great accessories. It has a food court with most of the regular offerings - Chinese, Mexican, hot dogs, etc. A Chili's is available for those wanting a more relaxing lunch. On the first floor I found a great treasure- one of the largest Sanrio stores I've ever been too. Who doesn't love Hello Kitty, right? Considering it's located downtown, this mall is easy to get into and out of with Norfolk being a very confusing layout. If you're looking for a special outfit, you can find it here. Lots of great stores. Just bring your charge card. I didn't even find anything great on the clearance racks. more
