I conveniently found Joe Bar one rainy afternoon as I was leaving the Harvard Exit theater. It was pouring and my car was several blocks away. I decided to wait it out in Joe Bar, though I wasn't really sure what it was. I was so pleasantly surprised that it was a charming cafe serving pressed sandwiches, salads, crepes, wine, beer, coffee and Italian sodas. YEAH!! The crepes are perfectly made with just the essentials in my opinion - ham, gruyere or roasted red pepper and feta. Simple is the key with sammies and salads too. It's sweet French fair in a sweet atmosphere. The kitchen is small, so it can be a little slow on weekends when people come here for brunch, but hey, what are you in a hurry for? Grab a glass of wine, read the newspaper and slow down for a minute.
I've returned many times after my serendipitous discovery.
