Presidio Thriftway 19AUG10
I live in Presidio and have to get along with the local residents. I have to complain, even if it is anonymously. This is out and out un-American and discriminatory.
The Thriftway in Presidio often does not have anyone available that speaks English and some of the employees get downright ugly with me because I do not speak Spanish. This is not right!
There is usually someone around that speaks plausible English, even if it is broken and poor English. Then the non-English speakers will normally direct me to someone that does speak a little English. But sometimes they just look at me and say, “No speakee English.” (sic) And I leave without finding the item for which I was looking.
Not one person in the deli section speaks any English.
I was in the produce area and asked the man working produce a question. The man looked at another man nearby and in a brusque said, “Que’ dijo’ este carbon?” I speak a little Spanish, but not enough to ask specific questions.
