A friend with very curly hair recommended Bumble & Bumble to help me deal with my own curls. They did better than Ouidad, surprisingly.
Specifically stylist Laura Jean was an excellent curly hair fixer! She charges a whopping $104 per cut (!!!), but she is the only stylist who has ever stopped my hair from frizzing into a mess as soon as it rains. Other stylists there also have the gift, but I have not tried them.
They have a clean, open atmosphere and a comfy waiting area with refreshments. B&B also has a line of hair care products that are effective. B&B was more hip and trendy in the 80's, but it's still great.
Convenient midtown location. Be sure to schedule an appointment in advance, and to describe your particular hair challenge - they will try to match you with a stylist who specializes in your particular type of hair.
