The Avon is another one of the great local theatres in Providence. It's old and it retains this feel with the intros played before the film. It's located conveniently on Thayer near the Brown campus. Unfortunately Thayer is turning mainstream and becoming corporatized, but Avon remains as one of the few places that keeps Thayer hip and independent.
The Avon shows independent and foreign films. They sometimes show the most random things like 3-d porn. You won't get any ads at this theatre before the movie shows. Invited speakers sometimes come to the theatre as well.
