The Genesee Country Village and Museum is a great place to go to get an idea of what life was like in upstate New York during colonial times. The staff dresses in costumes from the time period and demonstrate trades that were popular then – weaving, brewing and farming were just a few of the different jobs that I saw while I was there. There are also several shops that sell “colonial” merchandise, from candy to clothing to leather goods. Admission is reasonable, as are prices in the shops and restaurants. Considering Genesee’s close proximity to most places in Western New York, it’s a great place to go for a fun and educational day trip!
