a country market - the way it spoze' ta be! 8/18/2005

From early May until mid-October, the Lopez Saturday Market spreads its incredible wares and goodies between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., just across from Vita's Deli (to which you can repair for a lunch treat; Joyce Brinar's food is better than any restaurant on the island -- and there are some good ones, e.g., Love Dog, the Bay Cafe). There is an extraodinary produce/frozen lamb, pork and beef stand, Horse Drawn Farms -- featured in Seattle restaurants such as the Dahlia Lounge. There are incredible tacos/burritos/quesadillas, redolent of garlic and love. Don't miss Linda Adams' amazing pickles and jams. And you'll chat with half of Lopez's "nonestablishment" as you stroll the market. There's nothing quite like it elsewhere in Puget Sound. more
