There are plenty of Italian restaurants in Bay Ridge, so there is absolutely no reason to ever go to Goodfella's. I've been to this restaurant many times, and every time I've gone I've ordered the gnocchi, but last night it was absolutely terrible. The gnocchi was spongy and severely undercooked. I don't like to complain because I've worked in the service industry for many years and I know the servers aren't responsible for cooking the food but because my order was totally inedible, I told the server that the food wasn't good and I couldn't eat it. She didn't ask me what I didn't like about it, didn't offer an explanation, and didn't apologize for the food, she just took the plate away and asked me what else I wanted. The server didn't give me a menu in order to decide, she just stood there holding the plate of gnocchi above my head and staring down at me waiting for me to answer her. I ordered spaghetti without a fuss, and while I waited my fellow diners shared their dinners with me. By the time she brought the spaghetti to the table, I'd already eaten a makeshift meal and asked her to pack the spaghetti to go. I got the feeling that food complaints are not allowed in this restaurant, and that the server was at the end of her shift and just wanted us to leave so she could go home. She was a poor example of someone fit to be in the food industry, unconcerned with customer satisfaction and unapologetic. I know this to be a direct reflection of business ownership, which is a shame because food is their business and they should be concerned about food quality and customer satisfaction. Sadly, I have seen the patronage of this establishment dwindle over the years, and after last night it will dwindle a bit more. I will never return to this restaurant, and I advise anyone looking for Italian Cuisine in Bay Ridge Brooklyn to look elsewhere.
