My wife and I are regulars at the Taiko and we decided to try Sasaki because of the high reviews. We were disappointed in comparison with the ambiance, menu, food and presentation. The place comes across as a local neighborhood joint and felt a little dark and grungy, which doesn't give me confidence in a shusi bar. The menu was uninspiring with few inventive offerings like you see at Taiko. We did try one of the special rolls they offer (the menu doesn't describe what's in it) and it was more like a kitchen-sink roll, with a little bit of everything (incl. egg), rather than a careful selection of complementary ingredients as at Taiko. The beer glasses are small and cloudy, the serving trays look old and worn, etc. Some people might think all that is cozy, but I don't.
