Andrew Kirk who owns Brick By Brick has done the tuck and pointing on two chimneys for me (at two different houses), has rebuilt a fire box and rebuilt a chimney from the roofline up. I didn't know a whole lot about this field so he was very patient about expaining everything to me and advising me on how to proceed. He is reliable and communicated well regarding when he would arrive to work and when he would be back if the project needed time to dry or set. He also was on the lookout of ways i could save money like by recycling a chimney cap he had just removed from a women who was converting her chimney to work with a gas stove.
It was with great excitement that Andrew and I watched my newly built chimney gently rock and sway (they way it should) during the earthquake in 2001. He knew it would stand so maybe it was the prospect of new business, as several chimneys around us crumbled, that excited him.
