As for the other reviewer who was upset at being seated at the bar because she wasn't dressed properly- Narragansett is a beach town but that doesn't mean you can be completely casual. I think it's fine they seat people in bathing suits and flip flops at the bar. There's a Dunkin Donuts nearby if you want to eat dressed like that.

Usually very well stocked in the summers, lots of fresh produce and seafood- though you can get better in Galilee.

This place closed in Narragansett a while back, now it's on Hope Street on the East Side of Providence. I'm sure the food is still wonderful.

We had a very nice, educational visit, the kids learned a lot.

As a Cape Verdean American, I loved this museum. It brings together so many elements of our culture and presents it beautifully. The space is small, but there is a lot to keep you there.

For those of you who don't know, Cape Verde is an island nation of the coast of West Africa. it was once a Portuguese colony. Many Cape Verdeans are mixed African-Portuguese and they migrated here to work in whaling or on the cranberry bogs of Cape Cod in the 19th century and later because such a large community was already here in New England (Boston, Fox Point, New Bedford, Wareham and East Providence).
This museum shows you the history of the immigration- aboard old yachts and whaling ships, as well as the trades of the people once they arrived. And there are sections on art, music and sports. They also have a very nice library and the staff there are incredibly helpful about looking up family names or history.

This place was loud and annoying but they had great bellydancing and even better food. Recently they closed their Avenue B location and are moving to Bleecker Street.

But that's kinda the fun of it. They have lots of random books here and some very inexpensive new hardcovers, but sometimes the used fiction section is stuffed with second rate 80s thrillers.
