My dog has a severe case of gingivitis. I took him to Parma Animal Hospital to have it looked at. The docs told me he was going to have at least one of his teeth pulled and that they needed a cleaning. That was fine by me. Money is tight in my house and being only 21 years old so I was really looking at the price for this which I was quoted 180-250 dollars depending on how many teeth they would actually need to pull or how difficult they were to get out. When we got to the vets the doctor just took my dog and said to check up on him in a few hours. He told me nothing of what exactly was going to be done nor did he tell me how many teeth they needed to pull. I was VERY unsatisfied with the way they treated me. I was left in the dark. I did NOT want them doing any treatment on my dog that I was not confronted with first. They only told me one tooth needed to be pulled and they didn't know if there were anymore they had to wait till the got in there to check it out and probably without my saying could have pulled an extra tooth or two that may have been alright . I don't understand why they couldn't just look at the rest of his teeth and tell me that. They do a good job in their work but they are very sneaky. I took him for a knot on his head once and the charge was 30 bucks... they tried to prescribe pain killers for a simple little bruise. Each time I have gone for a simple check up they have tried giving me some kind of medicine for ALL sorts of things. THATS how they make their money. Their prices sound good but they want to give prescriptions for anything and everything they can. I am a concerned pet owner. I want to know what is going to be done with my pet in great detail. I didn't appreciate how they just took my dog and explained NOTHING to me. I promise I will not be going back to Parma Animal Hospital AGAIN! My dog will be visiting a new Vet the next time around. The place looks a bit run down and unprofessional anyway.
