I just went to Gene & Jude's for the first time. My office just moved up to the area and somebody mentioned this little hot dog stand that is dear to many, having had Food Networ...

I have been going to Gene &Jude's since the 50's when it was a small garage type brick building located about 50 feet directly in front of the present building. The hot dogs and french fries are as good today as they were back then. I live in Des Plaines now and try to make at least one trip each month. Best time to visit is Monday or Tuesday before 11:30 when the place is just starting to get crowded for the hungry lunch-time crowd. more

Gene & Jude's Red Hot Stand is THE BEST hot dog place in the Chicago Suburbs. Located in River Road and Grand Avenue intersection, it's a small place which you could easily pass by if you weren't looking, if it wasn't for the line of people waiting that curbs around the block. They're known for their greasy hot dogs and homemade fries, made every morning before the doors open. But beware, asking for ketchup is a SIN in this place, so don't ask for it. more

One of the best! 8/21/2005

There's a reason why Gene and Jude's red hot stand has been around since 1950, they make amazing hot dogs. They only use the best, Vienna Beef, for their hot dogs. They also have great tasting tamales, but that's about it. The hot dogs come with fries and you can get a lot of food for a little amount of money. Just a tip though to those who are new to the area, don't ask for ketchup on your hot dog, they won't have any! more
