Manicures and pedicures are the specialty here at the Polished Look Day Spa. The results were clean & beautiful looking natural nails. The pedicure foot scrub and massage were worth the price for one of the most soothing experiences I have ever had in my entire life! Overall this is the best spa I've been to. They are not a pretentious or faux sophisticated place. The atmosphere is very comfy and the people are genuinely friendly and care that you have a great experience.

The atmosphere is wonderful and comfortable. The hair stylists are friendly. They do great hair and color and will do 200%to please you. The place is good for up dos. However if you go on a weekend it's crazy in the store. There are so many people all over you don't know who the employees are and who the customers are. I recommend you ask for a Stylist more to the South end of the Studio since they put the "elites" there. The North end, in my opinion is for new budding stylists. These people know whats "in", and they deliver. I believe that Gallery of Hair is worth every cent you spend there.

Animal Care Hospital is a great place for anyone to take their pets. The workers are very sweet and caring, and are willing to do anything to make your pet feel better. The first time I went there was with my friend and her dog, who had cut himself on a fence. They made her and her puppy both feel better, and the dog was peaceful for the rest of the day. It's a great place for pet assistance.

The Kit Kat Lounge on Halsted is the best place for the most inventive and thorough Martini list in Chicago. Offering half-price specials on Sundays and Tuesdays, the Kit Kat is packed at any time during the week. If you're looking to get your dining on, this may not be the best place to go. Their food is decent, but often overpriced. Come to the Kit Kat for the drinks and the live entertainment. Go somewhere else to eat.

Johnnie's Beef is by far the best beef place in all of Chicago. Driving by, it looks like a small walk-in grill, but in the summer, the lines of people waiting go around the block. The Beef Combo, my favorite meal, is a nice heaping mound of beef and a grilled spicy sausage, accompanied with a side of fries. Top that with their famous Italian Ice, and you have the perfect meal for any day. The only drawback of Johnny's is that they take cash only, so remember to go to the ATM beforehand.

Ridiculously expensive. Disorganized service. Only 6 kinds of cupcakes, yet they claim to have over 30. The concept is cute, but the product needs to be improved, the cupcakes need to be bigger and a bit denser. Although the flavors are clever the presentation could better. And plus, there was no where to park, which spells out baaad news for any small business in the chicagoland area. All in all, I wouldn't recommend it, you're better off spending 2 dollars and making your own batch.

Las Mananitas is, well, better than the average fake-mexican restaurants (a.k.a. PePe's or Lalos), but does not rank at the top of my list of the best. They serve standard food like Enchiladas, Nachos, etc., but what they are really known for is their Margaritas, which are some of the best in town. Featuring many flavors, you can enjoy a pitcher of your favorite taste while watching people go by through the window. Las Mananitas isn't exactly the best food place in town, but if you are looking for a nice place to hang out with your friends and have a good time, this is the place to go.

Nookies Tree is the best place to go if you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere after a long night at the clubs. Bragging an extensive menu with many different tastes, Nookies is known for their breakfast foods, such as omelets, waffles, and eggs. Featuring great food and fast service, the only drawback of the whole restaurant (and I do mean the ONLY drawback) is the fact that they do not take any form of payment other than cash. They do have an ATM available, but the fees are outrageous to use it.
Nookies Tree, located on Halsted, is open 24 hours on Friday through Sunday, closing at midnight on Sundays.

Melrose Restaurant, located on the corner of Broadway and Melrose in the heart of Chicago's Boystown, is a great place to go after a night of club hopping and fun. Open 24 hours, the menu has a great variety of food, enough to satisfy anyone's taste buds. Serving portions are more than enough to fill one person, in certain cases, it's better to share certain plates. The best salad, by far, is their Blackened Chicken Salad, or the Taco Salad with beef.
The service is great. The diversity among the workers makes it easy for anyone to feel comfortable and not secluded. There is patio seating for those nice summer nights, but it is limited. The prices are a bit high, but for the amount of food and great service, it is worth every penny.

Gene & Jude's Red Hot Stand is THE BEST hot dog place in the Chicago Suburbs. Located in River Road and Grand Avenue intersection, it's a small place which you could easily pass by if you weren't looking, if it wasn't for the line of people waiting that curbs around the block. They're known for their greasy hot dogs and homemade fries, made every morning before the doors open. But beware, asking for ketchup is a SIN in this place, so don't ask for it.
