This was never the greatest Filene's Basement around, but it has really gone downhill over the years. The store is so dingy and poorly laid out. The clothing selection, especially for women, is really awful. The prices aren't even that great. The staff seems miserable to be there, and the store is usually a mess. You might still find an okay gift, a home decorative object, or some underwear here, but good luck. You're much better off trying the Marshalls downstairs. The store is also pretty cramped, yet they really don't have anything good. I feel like I've walked into the lousy Woolworths in downtown L.A. when I was a kid in the 1970s. Yuck.

Too many complaints from yelpers to my taste. I love Target. It's packed because it's part of the mall. You guys make no sense at all. If you want to enjoy a quiet Target then don't go to one which is part of the mall. Got it! I like Target I always find wonderful items. Check out their own brand of food Archer Farms. This store is pretty tucked away in the Arsenal Mall, so you might not even realize that it's there. They have some pretty amazing sales from time to time where you can get some real bargains (beware that during big sales the store can be a real mess with clothes on the floor). The clothes are certainly geared for younger people, but they do carry some basic type items for any age (sweat, button downs, tshirts). The sizing can really vary from item to item, so you really ought to try things on (it's no unusual for one person to be able to wear 3 different sizes here). The quality is also varied, so it's best to inspect things and to always try things on since it seems like they have a lot of "irregular" items. It's a good place for gifts since they carry lots of accessories. Prices are very reasonable, even on non-sale items.

Marshalls is cool. The staff is helpful. This Marshalls is big and clean. They renovated the store, it looked nice. They have fitting rooms. The clothes and shoes are nice. They have many accessories, body lotions, luggages and so much more. Prices are really good. I got myself some jeans the other day. I absolutely love this store. It is one of a kind. Literally, you can walk out confident that no one has what you have. If this is not a big deal for you then continue to buy at chain stores, but I like unique things that only I have. If you are anything like me, this is the place for you.
Please try to do what I did: I walked in with my family's vintage fur so it could get fixed. I walked out with 2 coats that are one of a kind. OH! and because they also treat and fix fur I should be picking up my family's heirlooms soon.

this carter's store has great stuff at great prices! if you like carter's stuff this store has an amazing selection of boys and girls stuff for babies and kids. they also have small toys and all the accessories to build a great layette for yourself or as a gift. they have some areas of the store arranged by sets, so that you can get all the coordinating peices if you want. they also have a small play area for kids in the middle of the store while you shop! enjoy

How is it that no one told me about this place, that's so close to home? Fastachi calls itself "An Opera of Nuts," but it's also a Symphony of Chocolate. They do have all kinds of different nuts and nut mixes (like with dried fruits, etc). They're on the expensive side, but it's just an expensive product and their prices are reasonable for what the products are. They have chocolates imported from Belgium (like fresh praline types) as well as a wide variety of domestic and imported chocolates and other sweets and treats. They store is immaculately clean and a real pleasure to shop and browse. The staff is friendly and some sampling is possible if you ask. All I can say is "WOW" because there's nothing else around like this and with this much variety.

I am all about supporting local businesses so when I happened upon Coolidge Hardware, I was thrilled. It is a small, homey hardware store that is not intimidating for a curious girl like me. I noticed they did leather repair and after being to about ten cobblers for my beloved Gucci purse that my adorable but naughty puppy chewed, I thought I would give them a try. The moment I entered, I was greeted with a frienly hello and asked how I could be helped. A nice gentlemen directed me to the back and I hesitantly asked if my baby Gucci could be fixed. Expecting a no, I was ready to leave but the older gentleman said it would be no problem and only charged me a measley $15. My purse was returned within a week and looked like new. Even though Home Depot might be cheaper, nothing beats small, friendly local businesses. (They also have a fantastic selection of quality paints that are unlike any other.) If you're in Watertown, stop in and support Coolidge Hardware, Inc.
