The last of the GREAT story time readers is here in Pasadena at Vroman's Book Store. He is only at the Colorado Blvd. location on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
I love the fact that he is a he. It's so good for my son to hear stories read by
a man.... And done so with great expression and wit!!!!
You won't be disappointed if you take your kids to hear him read. YOU will enjoy him, too. I hope Vroman's keeps him there FOREVER!

Love walking in here and browsing. The atmosphere here is creative -- the hold workshops and seminars on their large work table for people to create their own stationery. They have some unique cards you won't find in any Hallmark store. They also have some nice artistic books, albums, novelties and sketch/note books you can buy as well.

If you're a crafter...especially a crafter that uses florals...this is THE store for you. I would recommend visiting outside of the holiday insanity...but can recommend going just to view the holiday town and x-mas tree displays. Other than that...a lot of the usual craft stuff is stashed away to make room for the holiday craft stuff.

I like the Pasadena store to browse through at lunch-time but I like La Canada the best. Both stores have a good selection glassware, dishes, and I especially like the candles for gift giving.
The La Canada store has a better selection of furniture though. They have lots of wrought iron and wicker as well as some upholstered pieces too.
The parking is good at both stores, but the customer service is the best at La Canada.

Loved this little shop with such personality! Was just walking around downtown this weekend and stumbled on this darling little sterling silver shop. Lovely shop owner, Monica, was very accommodating and helped me select a beautiful bracelet and ring to match. Very affordable and high quality pieces--check it out! As I was leaving, Monica gave me one of her cards which showed a website to visit as well when I couldn't get downtown and wanted to shop for silver. www.silverme.com....I've already visited this site and the pictures don't do the jewelry pieces justice...they are really really better in person!! If you want high quality and affordability...they have great gifts (and things for yourself!!!) for all...they have men's, women's and even some baby items on their website. Check it out, you won't be disappointed and they really do offer a personal touch. LOVED IT!!!

Jacob Maarse has become a Pasadena institution and for good reason -- they make beautiful, unique floral designs with the freshest flowers available. When you order, you talk with a designer to determine what you need, and they in turn take that information and turn it into a beautiful arrangement that is sure to please even the most discriminating taste. Don't be afraid to leave things in their capable hands -- you will never be disappointed.

I think this is my favorite establishment in Southern California. Maybe it's my obsession with British culture, or maybe it's the magic and whimsy of the place. If you have not been you must go immediately! The Rose Tree Cottage is like stepping into another world. Edmund and Mary Fry are the delightful creators of this place and they are alwyas there when I visit. Imagine a charming British couple who speak and act as though they are serving the Queen Mother her tea with every guest. As you walk into a tiny little corner of shops in Pasadena, you feel as though you've walked into a Beatrix Potter story. The aroma of hot scones fills the air as Edmund seats you a t a delightful table surrounded by England decor. The afternoon tea menu exceeds all your expectations with incredible sandwiches, scones and devon cream, homeade preserves, and sticky toffee pudding for dessert (if you don't what this is you haven't lived!) There is a wonderfully stocked store of English goods adjacent to the tea rooms. You can purchase china, cookware, British delicassies, even the scones and preserves the place is famous for. Every who's who has made their way to the Rose Tree (with the pictures on the wall to prove it), and go once and you'll see why. When you leave you feel as though you've visited English relatives who loved the pleasure of your company. It's such a special experience and I hope I can take my children there someday!
