By far the best bar in town! Every time I go the place is packed. It has a ton of regulars. Ever been to one of those places that you can't wait to tell your friend about? This is one of those places. The staff seem to enjoy their jobs, and everybody seems to know each other. The atmosphere is very lively, and a little bit off the wall. The are pool tables and a shuffleboard table, nice TVs, and the food is fantastic. I know they sell a billion hambergers, but my favorite is the Philley cheese stake. Great selection of beer plus a full bar. Definately a great place to go.

My experience at Sorrento was absolutely amazing, I wish I could say so for some of the others that have frequented his establishment. My food was prepared wonderfully and even when desert came he offered to make it special since I was not to keen on a piece of 5000 calorie chocolate cake that I was sure would soon hit my portly ambiance with joy. After much deliberation I agreed to it and he said he would spice it up Italian style by dipping it into 20 year old port. Nothing shy of stupendous. The price was fair for food of this quality. I am only sorry that others have not had as wonderful a time as I.
Quality 10/10
Atmosphere 8/10
Price 7/10

First off, I don't know what to say about the other review from over four years ago, but I do know their menu has changed almost entirely since then, and I have never personally had an issue.
I don't know what "Angry Veal Man's" problem was, but his review sounds more like vendetta and obsession than fact. Who gives a darn if a cook is smoking outside? Talk about nitpicky! Did he forget to kick his dog or something??
I found his review posted on several sites, meaning he has WAY too much time on his hands! As Ace Ventura once said: "Obsess much??"
I have been going to Pellegrino's Italian Kitchen for years, and used to go to their Harborside location many years ago. I know the family personally, and it offends me that someone would go to so much effort to cost them business. They are an icon in the community and very active in charity work and donations, so hurting them only hurts the community at large.
I am a veal lover and have it at least half the time I go there. My favorite dish is the veal parm, and I have never once had an issue with it.
Further, I've never had an issue with the professionalism of the staff. No, it's not El Goucho, but it sure as heck isn't the free-for-all that this other guy says he encountered. God forbid that employees enjoy their work and have fun!
So if you want great veal (or pasta, or whatever else Italian), I highly recommend Pellegrino's Italian Kitchen, and highly refute the angry, obsessive words contained in the other review!
Pros: Great, consistent food and service
Cons: Pellegrino family no longer running Tyee location

Mercato's is an authentic Italian Restaurant in downtown Olympia. The atmosphere is pleasant and quiet. The service is excellent - you never have to ask for a refil on your drinks and they serve your meals quickly which makes this an ideal place to eat if you are on your lunch break. They specialize in seafood dishes, but have a lot of tradition, authentic dishes as well. Try the pear salad - it is to die for! The pizza is also very delicious!

More
We are incredibly lucky to have the Trinacria here in our little town! It has been my favorite restaurant in Olympia for several years now. The owner, Eugenio, is from Sicily and is a genius at simple peasant-type southern italian food. My favorite Trinacria dishes, in order:
1. lasagna: the meaty ragu combines with the creamy ricotta and mozzarella to create the best lasagna I've had anywhere, bar none. Housemade pasta.
2. Spaghetti A la Amatriciana: The Spaghetti is more of a Bucatini (thick and hollow spaghetti). The sauce is a reduction of pancetta, onion and tomato with pecorino. Unbelievably good, my wife usually orders this and I get to clean up after I finish my lasagna.
3. Penne Broccoli: Penne with a reduced tomato and broccoli sauce that includes several cloves of roasted garlic. The sauce has some pepper flakes in it to give a little kick to the dish. I love this when I don't feel like getting stuffed with cheese.
4. Sicilian Pizza #1: The sicilian pizza is a calzone; this particular one has spinach and raisin along with pomodoro and mozzarella. While it initially seems an odd combination, the sweet raisins work perfectly with the spinach and pomodoro.
5. Gnocchi with pomodoro: You can get this with a ragu, but I prefer the lighter flavor of a meatless tomato sauce. The gnocchis are always done perfectly; tender without turning to mush.
6. Any napoli pizza: While his oven isn't hot enough to create a truly authentic Napoli pizza, Eugenio's pies are easily the best you will find in Olympia. Especially good, the hot coppa and basil!
The prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality of food; $9.95 to $13.95 for an entree. Peroni and Moretti beers are $3.50 and wines are limited but reasonably priced. I'm not sure you'll find a bottle over $35.
The decor may not be what you would expect; you could use anything from "quaint" to "dilapidated" to describe the Trinacria. However, once you take a bit of the piece of lasagna the size of your head, you will not be complaining!
Pros: great southern italian food
Cons: no credit cards, little menu variation

Not to put too fine a point on it, but this hidden gem by the Phoenix Inn is a genuine 5 star restaurant. Small, intimate and great service matched by the excellent wine list and fresh desert tray. Had stuffed mushroom appetizer, great steak with Gorgonzola cheese topping (it came with a salad, potato and veggies!). Topped off the meal with the best torte I've had. Don't miss this treat when you're in Olympia!
