BEST VET IN TOWN!!! 6/10/2011

This place is wow! from start to finish. I had been to a nearby "bargain" vet who sent me out the door with nothing but an exam and antibiotics. When my pet continued to worsen I called Windhaven, They got us in immediately and literally saved my pet. The doctor ran tests and were able to pinpoint what was going on right away. I was amazed at how advanced the medicine was there. They had all the modern gadgets you would see at a human facility! My dog received the best care and I know that if I had gone elsewhere they would not have had the tools to save her. So all I can say is THANK YOU WINDHAVEN!!! And I would certainly recommend them if you want the BEST care for your pets. more

DO NOT USE WINDHAVEN VETERINARY HOSPITAL 6/7/2011

My folks recently took their 14 year old dog in for a follow up examine. When they arrived they were told there was no record of the appointment but that the Doctor was good at "multitasking" and could squeeze them in. They were led back to a cubicle where a tech came and took their dog for a shot. When my folks stated that they were there for a follow up and not a shot the tech asked them who they were. When they got that cleared up they came and took the dog saying they were going to run some quick tests and would be back in ten minutes. THEY DID NOT RETURN FOR AN HOUR. At that time the doctor told my folks they wanted to double the medication. My father asked for some more cost effective alternatives and was rebuked by the doctor. My father asked about petmeds online and the doctor made him feel like an idiot for even asking. When my father said that he could not afford medicine for 60 dollars a month for the rest of the dogs life the doctor back peddled and said that maybe the dog would be fine on the original dosage. So which is it? What's in the best interest of the dog? Or is he trying to scam a couple of more bucks out his clients? Before my folks left they went to pay their bill which turned out to be OVER $600! OVER $600 for a follow up. They were charged again for blood work, and an x-ray, none of which the doctor told them he was doing. And on top of that they were DOUBLE CHARGED for the blood work. This was not a good experience. It did not give confidence to my folks. They will be searching for another vet. One who is more sympathetic to the high cost of medicine. One who is willing to help them find alternatives. One whose first priority is the animal and the comfort and confidence of his clients. more

MOST EXPENSIVE IN TOWN 10/2/2010

I started going to this vet several years ago and really loved Dr. Tucker (he has since left). I recently took my dog in who was bleeding profusely from her behind, and had to wait over an hour while the vet who was out to lunch decided to come back - even though she was called and told I was on my way before I even headed that direction and said she'd be right there. I never did see that vet and after an hour another vet treated my pet. I can't fault the knowledge of the vets or the courtesy of the staff, but I am unhappy that they are so expensive and they don't care and make no exceptions. I have 5 animals and in a 3 month period spent over $3000 in treatments and food. I have one dog on seizure medicine and when I called for a refill, I was told they wouldn't do it unless I pay for bloodtests ($200-300, plus $65 office visit + $40 for the pills, and no telling what else) even though she's only been on the meds less than 30 days. The vet would not refill the prescription, even more

Life Savers! 5/18/2010

We recently had our pet's neuter done elsewhere at a low cost facility (big mistake). A few days later we noticed infection and swelling setting in. Not wanting to risk taking our dog back to the same place, we called Windhaven. We scheduled an appointment for that very same day and was able to get in on time and get out in a timely manner. Not only that, Dr. Shufield saved our dog's life. Literally. Not just the doctor but the whole staff was super courteous. I will never look any further than Windhaven for my pet's care. If you are looking for great vets, this is it. more

Awesome vet, great location 3/9/2010

I take my two collies to Windhaven Veterinary on a regular basis. Dr. Shuffield is awesome and it's obvious he knows what he's doing. \r The staff is helpful and attentive as well...you can tell how popular they are by how crowded it gets in the evenings. It's a very busy practice but the care is worth it. more
