The Downhill Slide 6/26/2007

I used to be a huge fan of this restaurant but have become increasingly disappointed. Considering the fact that customers are plunking down over $100 for a meal (in Santa Clarita), I?d expect superb customer service. My husband eat here a couple of times a year and have since they opened. We?ve had some wonderful experiences here so keep that in mind. Here?s how Saturday night?s meal played out. We arrive around 6:30 and the restaurant is sparsely populated yet we?re asked to give our name. As soon as it?s written down, the hostess takes us to a table. (Why we had to give our name is a mystery.) Drinks are ordered and arrive quickly; they?re yummy as usual. We order our dinner and chat. And wait. And chat some more. I know how long it takes me to make a salad; I could have run home, prepared it and brought it back more quickly than our server (whose name rhymes with ?rock?). Presentation s good, but there?s not enough dressing. The bread is fabulous! Meanwhile, our server walks by our table repeatedly as he brings water to guests outside. Our empty salad plates sit and sit even though he sees us as he?s walking by. Now (finally) comes our entrees. Mine is supposed to be veal medallions but I get a 2x4 chunk of meat. Hmmmm?plate is cold?food is barely warm. One of the sauces on my plate has started to dry out and that tells me the plate has been sitting. Our server is gone long enough that someone else (possibly the manager) comes over when she sees our long-empty glasses and offers more drinks. We wait again after our meal is finished but our server is smart enough to clear the dishes before mentioning dessert. I?m brave and order, a bittersweet chocolate Napoleon. I?m glad I did; it was fantastic. Later that evening, I start feeling sick. Uh-oh. The manager will be getting a letter from me. And I doubt they?ll get our business again. Pros: Nice Ambience, Fantastic Desserts, Interesting Menu Cons: Service, Execution on Idea more

Divine Food 11/25/2003

Walking down Town Center Drive in November is a treat in itself; white lights are wrapped around the trees and everything is festive. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with wrought iron, wood, and plants. You feel like you're in a luxury resort. The best feature of this restaurant, though, is the divine food (including the presentation). We feasted on a cheese platter for starters: nice cheeses, fruits, breads and condiments. Delicious! The Veal Pancetta was divine. It sat on a lovely helping of spinach and was surrounded by delicate ravioli in a nice garlic cream sauce. Decadent! I will definitely recommend this to friends for a special night out. Fantastic! Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Menu Choices Cons: Green Water Glasses more
